“Real Sociedead v Sylvania Villa… the rematch!

Both teams have enjoyed an excellent season, winning their division without defeat… but the tarnish on Sylvania’s record came at the very hands of Real in their pre-season divisional playoffs!

If that game was to be the yardstick, then this game was to be closely fought indeed… but this time the odds were to be heavily stacked in Real’s favour, for coach PML97 had been taking advice from wooden spoon winner, Russo! *queue laughter*

Before the game, unbeknownst to either side, both teams had signed a deal with Starletic United to loan Count von Drakenborg for the game… but if that wasn’t cheek enough, the git didn’t even turn up for either team!!!

This meant that the teams were very closely matched indeed.

In the snow Real were receiving first, and PML97 got his team into a perfect defence! Interestingly enough, Villa star Mummy, Didier Agony, stepped within blitzing distance of Real star mummy, Asier Riesgo… the battle of titans would surely ensue!

With kick off, Real immediately sought an opportunity to take Dider out of the game as Asier, backed up by a courageous Ghoul and the Dirty Juanito, blitzed into him… but despite a two shot combo Dider stood his ground. Real scooped the ball and immediately fell in behind the wall.

Villa sorted out their defence, but were unable to break the deadlock of the titans, Real’s third attempt to take the big man down succeeded, and like flies around Chewie, the undead swarmed to aid Juanito who did Real proud and committed Dider to the CAS box!

After that… Real took their time to get to the endzone, waiting for the last moment to make a brake with their speediest Ghoul… One-Nil !

The second half looked good with only one mummy on the LOS, but this mummy was backed up by two good wights and an excellent array of Ghouls.

The Ghouls made a break on the right flank, but with the lack of strength on their line they couldn’t hold enough Real players back, and eventually the Real mass swarmed them, taking the ball carrier down after a desperate ghoul, trying to get into position to defend the ball carrier failed to dodge from Real’s tackling team captain. The ball was open, and Real quickly removed it from Villa’s hands, which bounced and teetered on the sideline… But, then disaster stroke as Haritz Borda Etxezarreta fumbled the pickup, and managed to catch it on the bounce, but leaving him in a very precarious position indeed.

Villa ceased the opportunity and allowed Haritz Borda Etxezarreta to meet his adoring public, the ball landed at the far end of the Real endzone… but luckily behind the wall of the Real defence… all still looked well as Villa tried to circumvent it, falling well short.

Aiser laughed it up as he was about to pound a tiny zombie to allow Real Ghouls to scoop up the ball unhindered, but then he rolled double skulls… no problem, he attempted it again… double skulls again!!! A 1296 to 1 chance! Roughly the same odds you get from the bookies on Russo winning an OBBA game! This was disastrous!

Villa moved their players in closer, still not making it to the ball… Real had only one shot left… their top scorer, and sure handed ghoul, Díaz de Cerio, dodged between a Ghoul and Zombie and made the pickup… this left Villa in dismay and a lot to do, put blodging Díaz de Cerio down, pick up the ball and hopefully stretch those extra yards in the snow to reach the endzone… alas, they failed miserably at the first hurdle!

Winners! Real, still undefeated! One-Nil… the second victory over Sylvania Villa!

But I wanted a little time to do it some justice. A great game that had me taking longer than I usually do for turns meant PML had me thinking, which I hate to do. :)

VGG, PML – we could easily have gone into OT, then who knows what? :)
