“A big mismatch on paper, but the Warpstars challenged the Squeakers who accepted with some reluctance (I offered a team with same Str vs his humans but Whaletyr wanted to play my Skaven hehe).

The Warpstars and Squeakers exchanged touchdowns quickly in the first half with the Warpstars just failing to equalise at half time to trail the Squeakers 2-3.

The Squeakers took the lead to 5-4 whilst late in the second half and looked to have the game won as they were starting with the ball.

However, a blocking error upfield (double skulls!!!) left a gaping hole into which the Warpstars poured and they recovered the ball! The Squeakers attacked the ball carrier but were unable knock the ball loose. With seconds left to go, the Warpstars Wardancer with the ball lept out of the cage of Skaven players that had surrounded him but came crashing down onto the turf and spilt the ball allowing the Squeakers to escape with the win.

What an exciting fun match. Despite the huge difference in TR and STR, it was a very close game as my opponent had a one turner who could pretty much score at will (he has Leap and Dauntless LOL) whereas my one turner was used to set up scores for other Gutter Runners.

We both rolled a lot of 1s, with my burning up rerolls all over the place, twice when about to score with a hand off or GFI I rolled a 1 hehe.

In the end it was some rotten luck again that set up and completed the exciting climax. My double skulls allowed my opponent to pick up the ball. My two dice blitz with Tackle failed to knock him over (if I did I would have picked up with my Sure Hands Dump Off Thrower and the match would also have been over) and instead run a whole lot of players back to surround him and cover some of the leap squares... leaving only one where he did not need to dodge or sprint afterwards... and this required me doing several dodges and GFIs which left my opponent with the 1 he rolled for Leaping (AG 5 Wardancer) as the next roll in the dice sequence and it was game over.

Still a very fun and entertaining match.

However, post match, my second thrower aged at 76 SPP, as did my Str 4 Storm Vermin. So I probably would have been better off not playing in the end LOL. The Thrower was sacked after long faithful service and new rookie Thrower hired to bring the niggle count to 9 (ouch).”
