PBI - Underworld Conference II - Round 2

Things didn't go well from the start as I think a spectator connecting as the game started crashed it and the coin toss didn't appear. So a restart later, and the game got underway, with Panda not getting much better handicaps than he got 1st time around... getting Palmed Coin and Bribe the Ref (instead of Extra training and Knuckledusters).

However, he quickly put the Bribe the Ref to good use as the elves got their sharpened studded boots out. After having chosen to kick, the elven team were delighted to get a perfect defence which put the elves in a much better position too.

In contrast the dwarves couldn't scratch the elves, and a deep kick meant the few back field players were put under pressure following the Perfect Defence... and soon the elves were ahead. 0-1.

The CD's regrouped, and managed to get an equaliser in turn 8, with Snort Hornscharge's Stand Firm coming in to play. 1-1.

Second half, the elves received and hurried the ball deep in to their own half while the dwarves flailed around pretty ineffectively, while the elves picked them off with gang fouls... however, the gang fouls meant that all the elves were in one place, and the CD's got stuck in. Soon the elven ball carrier was under pressure, and with 1 turn of poorish dice the elves carrier was suddenly under threat from a block... splat he went, and the ball spilled free. The dwarves did their best to cover the area from the dodging pointy-eared freaks and gathered the ball.

Turn 16 looked good. The only elf in range of Snort was prone, without block and was on the sidelines. There was a hobgoblin on hand to assist, and Panda had zero rerolls left. It was do or die time... and unfortunately for me, he rolled a -2b dodge back splat. This left the ball in the TZ of a hob goblin. However, all I needed to do was 2db the blockless elf, pick up the ball with a hob gob and score the winner... with a reroll in hand it looked ok. But 4 skulls later, and much much cursing, the game was drawn... And both Panda and Phil78 were delighted. It meant I would have to hope Phil78 dropped points against another team, or I had to win against him in round 4 as well as winning my other games. With only the top spot sufficing, this was a bitter blow... but hey... back to full strength next game... and the dwarves have been given sound instructions to never do that again! :-D

Nuffle added an insult to injury by a -FF roll and only 10k winnings too. I think that summed it up! :P

Thanks for a great game Panda... You deserved the draw... another set of dice on another day... well, who knows! :-)
