“playing against so many tentacles was proving difficult for my woodies, they got around this by scoring 3 fluke TDs and defending by leaping into cages to take 2db against stripball rolls - which worked with alarming frequency :)
for the first TD the ball was loose after a failed catch by a beastman, and annyingly sitting in the tz of 2 tentacled plyers, fearlessly my thrower walks in and picks it up and, unable to evade the tentacles and despite all the FA and tz around him, gets a pass off to the wardancer for an easy TD.
3 leaps into the cage all stripping the ball, with 2 die against, in the first half meant a failed catch in T8 denied the rotters a comeback TD in the first half
2nd was a simple two turn off the KO - well if you ignore the 2 tz my rookie lino caught the ball in and the long bomb pass needed to get it to him :)
finally my leaping wd could hold the rotters back no more and they responded, with a quick driving TD.
2-1 up in turn 5, but only 4 players meant it was going to be a close call as to whether i could hold on. and the BLITZ, my plyers were then all surrounded by tentacles and couldn't move, other than the thrower i left back who snuck to the ball, to pick it up in 2 tz and punted it up the pitch. unfortunately for the rotters they had all rushed forward for the blitz, and when the closest to the ball had to stunned himself gfi'ing my thrower chased his own pss and picked up the ball a few squares from the line - with the rotters too far away to get him and scored a simple t16 td for the 3-1 win :)
thanks for the game, was a fun 9-9 match, and we'll definately have to have a rematch when back to full strength :)
