“In theory the lizards just wanted to survive this one, but in practise they couldn't help but play to win - which, the way the last round of premier worked out, was only fair to the other contenders for the title too, as the final result was basically decided by which of the top four teams, all theoretically in contention, choked against a non-contender in their last round game.

In the end though they didn't win or survive particularly well.

They won the toss and decided recieve the kick, a bad kick gave a touchback which went to a Saurus, and they then proceeded to make a meal of it on the second turn, losing the ball and quickly going 0-1 down. This is in fact the fourth time this exact sequence of events has occurred this season (although the exact manner in which they have make a meal of it has varied). There must be a lesson in that somewhere.

They equalised to 1-1 on the next drive when The Stinkers, not expecting the passing play, chose not to mark Za'yindhoten.

Soon enough though, as has also happened numerous times before, the casualties started to pile up, particularly on the skinks. The Stinkers had no trouble getting to 2-1 and keeping it there.

By the end of the game, the sauri had started to hold their own on the field, but there were literally no skinks left to handle the ball. A desperate play at the end of the game nearly succeeded, with Udhachagnd picking up the ball, surviving for a turn and throwing an accurate pass to Da-Ubh, who, had he caught it, was in a good position (i.e. only three 2+ rolls needed) to score.

Hard to know where to give the votes as it was a team effort really.
3 Blocker IV - For his effort recovering the ball of Z'aghigo in the second half - knocked the ball off him, stopped him picking it up then later put him in the cas box.
2 Hoiker VI - For running away with the ball for the first td. It was mainly the support of the team that let him do it though
1 Blocker III - For taking the Kroxigor down with him on the second turn causing the early turnover.

PS Also, a correction to PD's votes, it was Udhachagnd not Mithollam who got all the high rolls and made the pass that Da-Ubh dropped, so the 3 votes should really go to him.”
