Another chance for OBBA Cup Glory, and this time around things started off much simpler against 10 Elves… or nine after some dressing room handbaginess from the effeminate Elves.

Real however were in the best shape they’d been in for four games or so. OBFTW received first and did what all good Elves do and broke to the weaker of our flanks. Their foul technician blitzed Real’s Foul Expert, Juanito, and ensured he’d be missing not only this game but the next too!

Outraged, Real eagerly piled in neglecting to leave someone back. The Elves then managed to stall for just a short while longer as the Undead retraced their steps to the back field.

0 – 1

Real’s turn to receive and the Undead horde were not quite brimming with confidence, not whilst there were still 9 Elves on the pitch. Real began making a deliberate, slow and cautious move into OBFTW’s half, a revenge attack from Karla Laburu badly hurt OBFTW’s Foul Tactician early into their drive.

Real seemed to have everything under control but Gungho Dragon Warrior, Violence, screamed “Cribble Time”, no doubt some otherworldly Elven God of Luckor, and burst into the loose cage and managed to strip he ball loose, but fortunately no elves were about to take any advantage. Real moved the Dragon Warrior and his associates from the ball and new Wight Signing, Gaizka Garitano Agirre, scooped up the ball and entered another cage.

Despite being pounded to the ground for his insolence, another “Cribble Time!” scream heralded another incredible blitz from Violence, this time toppling the hapless Wight, and leaving a lot to do for Real in the dying seconds.

OBFTW however had left their strongest Elf and Violence dangerously close to the sidelines, and as Real were still struggling with this one particular Elf, never mind another 7 of them, they took the time to introduce the players to their fans. Violence managed to sneak back to the dugout as the crowd pounced on the larger Elf and left him seriously injured.

With the path cleared the ball was scooped up and the tie earned.

1 – 1

OBFTW had been reduced to six men for the second half, and a bad kick meant there was little pressure on Real. Real now made better use of their Man-to-Man marking system that hadn’t proven quite so fruitful yet. OBFTW managed to get their players away as Real broke to the flank.

The familiar scream of “Cribble Time” emanated from a charging Dragon Warrior… but this time the God was obviously disposed of (probably AFK) and the Warrior fell flat on his face. With such numerical superiority and Wights to train up Real abandoned their usual stall tactics and made a very early score.

2 – 1

Good sense told the Elven players to accept defeat and not push to overtime, but good management demanded otherwise. The plucky little Elves set up for the score as best five men could. They dove to the flank and left their ball carrier deep.

The LOS Zombies charged forward, led by the scoring Wight who was keen to tally two.
The Dragon Warrior tried to dodge away but was tackled to the ground… his god had definitely forsaken him. But despite two blocks Real could not bring the pesky ball handler down to capitalise.

OBFTW threw an incomplete pass but left the ball in Real’s own half. With one final chance Real moved OBFTW’s players once again, mercifully sparing them another crowd surf – and not for the first time – scooped up the ball and threw a spectacular pass to the waiting Wight who happily carried it into the end zone to finish the game.

3 – 1

Never going to be an easy game for Purple, and unless he could stop me scoring in the first half, which he nearly did, then OTS in the second it was only ever likely to be decided in his favour by also getting through OT… which he really lacked the players for.

However! This was not the Goo I know! Cribble has had a very bad influence on him… giving him the confidence to try high risk reckless manoeuvres! Just stop it! You’ll be in the Premiership next season, bash or die trying!

Credit to Purple for putting up a great fight though and never losing sight of going for the win, even at the expense of leaving his star player vulnerable to several surfs.

I didn’t go all out to cripple his team once I knew the game was won, knowing that I’ll need these Elves next season to help get rid of the Premiership’s Khemri incursion once and for all… and it’s never nice to be mean. ;)

I’ll probably regret this next season, but hopefully by then I will have more than a solitary Zombie tackler to employ against him. :)

Good game Purp!
