#7 Markel Bergara Larranaga – Dead (RIP)
#15 Arturo Sevillano – Smashed Knee (NI)
After a glorious round one victory, in a fixture that heavily favoured Real Sociedead, the second round was not going to be quite as simple as they faced a rather mean looking Conference North Dwarf team, Sartosa Pirates BBC.

A less than positive mindset quickly descended into dread as Star Mummy, and Royal pain in the ass, Mikel González was ruled as being unfit for the game.

The Pirates received first and made their intentions clear, they were leaving no room for error as they scooped up the ball with their bulked up and most capable Runner and headed for the sanctuary of his fellow Dwarfs.

For a short while Real seemed to be holding off the Dwarves, but a KO and a couple of stunned zombies seemed to make a big difference and the Dwarves managed to split the Real defence into two pockets and comfortably score.

1 – 0

Second half and Real were on the offence, exactly where they like to be. They feigned to one flank and drew the Dwarves over with them, whilst then switching and cutting off most of the Dwarf defence. However, unskilled rookie Mummy, Enaut Zubikarai Goni, was making mistake after mistake, and when time came for Markel, Ghoul, to break he tripped and fell mid sprint, spilling the ball. The dwarves wasted no time in surrounding the ball, but made the mistake of crowding together too closely… such is the stunt nature. A clever little chain push broke the ball free again and left Karla with only the difficult task of picking the ball up, which as usual the team captain faultlessly did to even the score and take it to OT.

1 – 1

If Real could start with the ball, a reasonable stall is all they might require, alas the Pirates yet again won the coin toss, and Real faced an uphill struggle that they had no chance of surmounting in the first half let alone now when fatigue was taking its toll.

The Pirates began brilliantly, scoring three KOs on the Zombies and immediately putting pay to any real opposition. The Dwarves secured the ball and secreted it away whilst the rest of their horde closed ranks on the depleted Real, delivering a killing blow to Real’s second Ghoul and niggling star Zombie, long serving, Arturo Sevillano before taking the points!

Another early Cup exit for Real and another devastating blow for them to overcome for Season 4. The only saving grace was that after eight games, the Old World’s most useless Mummy, Enaut Zubikarai Goni, seems to have finally mastered the blocking art, and team captain, sole surviving Season Three Ghoul, Karla Larburu, despite age creeping up on him seems to be in the best form of his career…

The report comes long after the game, so the details are hazy.
I think the crummy mummy cost me several re-rolls during the game, a sad testament of having to rely on him too much due to the other niggling out. The next purchase has to be a replacement now as I lose every time he no-shows for me.

Neither one of us suffered from a nuffling, and I think it was closely fought, if the coin toss went the other way for OT then I’d like to think that the game may have also… and I wouldn’t have lost two good players. :(

GG Ebe – and gl for continued cup success.
