We're facing HouseT's skinks who after winning 100k in their last game have bought a poisoned dagger wielding adept - uh oh!!
The skinks start with a nice blitz that puts two of their players almost under their own kick and we're forced to pull off quite a few dodgy moves just to make things half-safe. The skinks free up space around the ball and then cleverly try and pick it up with their handsless raptor! Ahem! They grab it with a skink instead and we mess up our thinking on the blitz towards him and can't even get him in a tackle zone!
He scores on turn 2 and we get a blunderbuss AND our bomber sent off- boo!!
We get the ball at the back but speedy skinks run in, surrounding the gnome on the ball. We free him up slightly and in that same turn our remaining cannon BHs the enemy dagger- a relief to remove it for the game! However great piling in by the skinks means we can barely get the ball to the halfway line let alone anywhere near their endzone and we must accept being 1-0 down at half time. On the plus side only 2 of 5 KO'd skinks wake up for the second half so we set up 9 vs just 7. Hoping to stop them getting a quick one and be able to score near the end of the half.
The skinks start the half in style, sprinting a whiptail right through to 3 squares from our endzone with a raptor covering. We make the dodge and blitz with a daredevil (agi 2!) and he knocks out the ball carrier but then slips as he GFIs the final square to stand by the ball- letting a nearby skink grab it and score!
2-0 down and 6 turns left; this is going to be almost impossible for our slow gnomes to manage! 3 turns in and we don't have the ball and it's only at half way! Terrible play from the gnomes! Eventually we manage a consolation TD on the very last turn but it's not enough to make it to extra time!
