I was almost writing this one off from the start...facing Ogres, with an LOS designed to take out poor widow rats. Facing a team coached by Gary_Gygax in the Gary_Gygax Memorial Cup. I had a bad feeling about this. But one small smidgen of hope...his team was half goblins. I had a linerat named 'goblin.' Would it be enough to confuse the bone-headed ogres?

It was!

Ogres on the LOS were either too confused by the constant chittering from the rats' side when a block was about to be thrown "Look out goblin" "That Ogre is about to hit you goblin!" The ogres would pause, confuddled, and fail to hit anyone, or else lightly paw the opposing player, rarely even stunning them. More than once the confusion acutally allowed the lucky linerats the chance to get a sucker punch in and nail the ogre that intended to pound them! The poor ogres didn't know what to do...

"Hey...one of them mice is goblin"
"Our goblins?"
"I not sure."
"Coach say hit him!"
"But coach get mad when we hit goblins. Then he hit us..."
"I no want to get hit!"
"I no want to get hit either!"
"Coach is yelling. He might hit if you don't hit mice"
*an ogre half heartedly pushes a skaven gently to the pitch*
"Ok, coach not yelling anymore. Now he just shaking is head."
"Wait...so if that mice not golbin...is maybe this mice in front of me goblin?"
"I not know!"
"I not know either!"
"Coach yelling again."
"I confused!"
"Face turning red!"
"I good ogre! I not hit teammate goblin!"
"Think coach is yelling is not teammate goblin is mice!"
"How can coach tell from over there! I not able to tell from right in front of me!"
"You ok I think. Coach not yelling anymore. Coach just holding head in his hands."
"Is that whistle blowing? Game over already?"

There were a few good Gary_Gygax signature plays, including a flying gobbo touchdown (with the throwing ogre in TZ coverage!), a flying gobbo Block on a gutter runner (bullseye!), and a precision thrown and landed flying Blitz, pushing a gutter runner in on turn 16 for a last touchdown.

Overall though, the light and somewhat non-existant hitting by the ogres, left enough rats on the pitch that they were able to capitalize well on miffed dice rolls, and won the match easily.

Unlike next round, where these rats are sure to get hammered by a bunch of nasty dwarves... :/
