LC II Main Event -Round I

Handicaps for Poems: It Wasn't Me, Virus and Buzzing!

Both Poems nigglers play, without need for apot. Poems receive first half.

Poems were apprehensive from the start in this game, starting with only 11 players (one of whom was a freebooter) and no reserves. However, since both nigglers played and Poems received things were looking reasonably well. All they needed to do was cause some casualties and the game should be in the bag. Or that was the plan anyway...

Poems advanced slowly in the first half, causing lots of KOs but no cas. A couple of claw/rsc blocks on Krikack Bone Tooth, the freakiest Ogre alive, managed nothing, and the Ogre in return managed an impressive blitz on the ball, Poems own Ûber-freak, Time Is. Fortunately Poems managed to reclaim the ball and scored in T8. One of BSBs DPs had been spotted at that time, and Poems had used their apot on a BH, but other than that both teams were intact.

In the second half BSB started with 10 players vs 10 for Poems due to bad KO-rolls for the humans and a BH freebooter for chaos. Some good plays and sloppiness from Poems allowed the humans to score in T3, despite Krikack failing a multiblitz due to bonehead. This left Poems 6 turns to score 2-1 and win.

Poems are at a numerical disadvantage from the start, 10 vs 11, and only cause some stuns on the humans the first turn. Some humans manage to rush forward and put tacklezones on the ball, but the ballkeeper, Compensation, simply handed the ball to Time Is for safekeeping. A failed foul on Krikack gave the Ogre a 2d block on Time Is, which he gladly accepted, causing a stun. The humans AG5 thrower gets the ball, but fumbles the pass, leaving it in the middle of a chaos/human mêlee. Poems put several tacklezones on the ball, but can't pick it up.

T7 for the humans: No rerolls, the ball lying in the middle of loads of players. Krikack have the chance to push a beastman onto the ball with a 2d block, but rolls doubleskulls! The Worls We Make picks up the ball, and rushes away to score. 2-1 Poems!

Poems took the chance to T16 foul Krikack, since they had the ref, making the ogre hit the KO box. And that was game.

I made several errors in the game, the most obvious was setting up a claw/rsc multiblock and then blitzing with the wrong player :) Despite this Poems managed to pull off an unexpected win. Was a very, very close game, with the fumb(b)led pass from the human thrower and the doubleskulls for Krikack sealing the deal. Still, 0 cas from 14 claw/rsc blocks was lucky for them, so maybe it evens out somewhere.

I have to say I regret my T16 foul against Krikack. Even though he is a total freak, and in many ways deserved the boot, it wasn't necessary and such a cool player deserves to die (or be retired) under better circumstances. My apologies for that one.

PainState was a fun coach to play, and I hope to see him on the pitch again sometime. Good luck mate, catch you on the flip side!

#9 "Hammering" Hank – Dead (RIP)
Buccaneers are upset 2-1 in the closing minutes.

What a heartbreaking loss last night in the opening of the Lustrian. Buccaneers once again perform their patented 2/6 going for the win, blow the play on a muffed pass, 2/7 try to maintain the tie but roll double skulls and 2/8 watch the other team go in for the win. 3 Roll of the dice and the balance of victory and defeat is played out.

It was a very good match, a lot of fun. Both teams played there hearts out but in the end only one team can win the match. Both teams deserved the win based on how they played last night and the Bucs picked the short straw in this one.

Buccaneers I thought contained his CL/RSC guy really well, got lucky on some of his blocks and contained the choas thugs really well. We got out muscled in the first half playing down due to 6 KO's but still managed to compete with Poems and allmost came away with a turnover on 1/6 that would have stopped Poems opening score, But the turnover bounce went one square the wrong way and could not recover the TO.

Second Half went as planned. Krikack Bone Headed on the opening play of the second half that totally blew my opening move but in the end that did not matter as the Bucs move with precision down the field and 2 turn score. (bucs only had the ball 3 turns the entire match)

The rest of the second half was a total scrum in the middle of the field as Krikack throws himself in the middle of Poems and his surrounded for 4 turns by the Choas scum battling it out. In 2/6 was the Bucs shot at glory and they blew it, nothing else can be said, they spit the bit.

Good game Leijonet and good luck the rest of the way. Have fun with those Woodies next round. :}
