Let's start with the good luck my opponent had. In six kickoffs, he got two rerolls, threw two rocks at my players, and benefited from two quick snaps. Granted, the first two benefited from his fan factor, and one of the rerolls came after his 8th turn had passed, but still. My minotaur suffered from a niggling injury, so that guy didn't set up. Also, he had a nifty play at the end where he knocked down one of my guys, a hobgoblin dodged around to pick the ball up in a tackle zone, and passed it downfield to a bull centaur who sprinted 9 squares for the TD.

Other than that, though, the luck was mostly mine. And I guess part of that is the Norse -- I saw a lot of pow-skull results happening. But most of it was the Dwarfs' seeming inability to inflict any casualties. They threw 51 blocks -- I don't know how many of those resulted in knockdowns, a fair number got through the armor, and I remember a guy getting KO'd at one point. But the only player who got hurt was one of the guys who got hit by a rock. My apothecary had the day off. (And knowing this team, that's a rare day off...) Given that most chaos dwarf players have no ballhandling skills, and the exceptions are fragile, blockless hobgoblins and AG2 bull centaurs, a numbers advantage is key. And it wasn't his fault it didn't happen, but the fact remains it didn't happen.

Not that I dealt a lot of casualties myself, mind you -- War got his tenth, but that was it. (He got up and piled onto against a centaur who blitzed him... centaur died but got apo'd.) But the fact remains -- my game is elfball. Always has been. If you gave me a Khemri team, I would be constantly thinking to myself, "what are these weird bony elves, and why are they dodging so badly?" So when my guys pick up the ball, complete their passes, and don't get too hurt, things generally work out.

Mummies scored on the game's first two drives; after the first time, he was hit by a rock. He recovered, stood up, blitzed a ball-carrying bull centaur on the wing, stunned him, and ran it in. Go, Mummies! (The guy named Mummies, not the undead guardians from the aforementioned Khemri team. Still hate the latter SO MUCH.)

Third touchdown went to Famine, who picked up the only skill. We need guard pretty desperately, but Famine has dodge, so we don't want him on the line anyway. We took Mighty Blow, on the theory that that'll get him a third skill faster. Also, we need some kind of antidote to our elfball instincts, and this may keep our casualty counts at least in some kind of Blood Bowl range.

Edwyn was the MVP, for no reason we can fathom. His tackle skill was irrelevant against a team without dodge.

After the game, we made further cuts to the team, retiring Bobby and Brock Samson. A niggled AV7 minotaur who had actually played in a grand total of six out of ten games -- and got hurt in two of them -- was no longer worth 12 TR to us. As for Bobby, we decided we didn't need TWO niggled foulers. (We don't need any niggled foulers, really, but we do need a fouler.) The cuts have dropped our TR by 19, to 144. Unfortunately, we have to carry 10 of that in cash, because we're just short of landing a new Big Guy, and we don't want to jeopardize getting him next time in order to sign a 13th player for next match.
