LC II Main Event -Round II

I think this was the best game I've ever played on Fumbbl. Epic. Simply EPIC! I am out of the running for LC II, but GOD! What a way to go!!!

Both Poems nigglers played, Pigstar used his apot to force Fly boy, 8546 blodge lineelf (?) to play. Poems started with the ball.

At Set Of Sun, my elf-deterrant (ST5 Tentacles BT) got KO'd turn one. He was out for the rest of the game, curse his soul. If only he'd played then maybe...

Poems advanced, doing their best to protect the ball but failing abyssmally at hurting any elves. A -2d block got the ball free once, but Jordell snaked his dodge to retreive it and the Hogs never got another good opportunity for a counterscore. First cas came in T8, Jordell getting SI'd by The Charge of the Light Brigade. However, I had wasted my last reroll the turn before (of of the very few mistakes I felt I did) and PigStars defence stopped my score. 0-0 after the first half, no KOs back for Poems who started the second half with 10 players.

Hogs can fly had little trouble scoring in the second half, but Poems managed to stress the score to T4, giving Poems five turns to equalise. Still no more cas though, and ST5 Tents stayed KO.

Started T4 making a SI on a lineelf and RIP on the tree. Suddenly things looked much better! However, the Hogs had gotten the ref so they would be able to foul at will. The elves rushed forwards, trying to pressure the ball but Time Is, with AG5, passed the ball forward to The Worls We Make, AG4 beastman. Poems had little trouble scoring 1-1, the elves focused on getting threats out of the way for OT, namely Claw/RSC CW (failed apot). 1-1 after second half, time for OT!

Poems received, starting with nine players (Tents still asleep) but some awesome armor/injuryrolls had reduced the Hogs to only eight players. Things looked good. Very good. However, PigStar had no intention of making things easy for me (although I never thought he would...).

Hog magic, Strip Ball WD, leapt into my cage, -2d blocked Time Is (and managed to knock him down and stun him to boot) and pressured the ball. A fortunate scatter saw the ball caught by my DP beastman, but the elves put lots of pressure on the ball. Poems managed to knock the elves away, and gave the ball to a CW. Second turn another -2d from Hog magic got the ball loose again, picked it up, and after a scuffle (which saw more elves hurt) scored in T5. 2-1 for the Hogs, three turns to equalise and see a possible cointoss. Despite some lucky plays and a failed dodge for Magic hog (which gave him SI/-AV) Poems failed a critical Long Pass and the game ended 2-1 for Hogs can fly!

I didn't think I'd stand much chance in this game, lacking reserves, playing almost 50TS up and facing PigStar_69, one of Fumbbl's top coaches against whom my record is, simply put, poor. However, the game really was close up until the end! I think both me and PigStar played extremely good BB, I feel for myself that this was one of my most well played games in a long time (not flawless though), and PigStar matched me play for play.

Neither team was unlucky overall I think. Atleast if you only consider this game; the cas made against his team totally cripples PigStar in his next game, so he will most likely be screwed then :) Both teams missed some dices that could have ended the game earlier than it did, and both teams had luck with other dice to keep the game rolling. I'm open to the possibility that I'm not totally unbiased in this assessment; when playing a stronger WE team with Chaos you need good dice, and the fact that Poems managed to hang on to the very end could be an indicator that they were the luckier team...

Having close to 200 specs was very cool (and flattering), and I feel that we put on a good show for them. For all of you who specced, thank you for the /cheers, the /boos, and the /hurts. Makes playing in the Majors feel totally awesome, always. Thanks to you all, and most especially, thanks to PigStar_69, one HELL of a coach who gave me a truly Epic game to remember LC II by. I tip my hat to you mate!
