“After 13 matches of simple open-style play it was time for the Deadites to see if they could be competitive in a tournament format. The first match of FUMBBL SMACK Sched PRO XVII, against a sturdy line of hardened Dwarfs, would suggest that the slithering Undead see no real difference - Blood Bowl is Blood Bowl, no matter the stakes.

A tough first half saw the Deadites defend stoutly against a Bundesliga squad prying for an opening, but never quite succeeding in making their possession pay. A final dash by Werder Breman almost succeeded but was stopped short of a touchdown only by some good covering by the Deadite backs.

The second half, however, was a particularly fine half for the Deadites although they can consider themselves slightly fortuitous. There was little lucky about the opening touchdown. A strong surge down Bundesliga's right flank, led by bruiser Sir Bruce of Campbell who forged a route through the Dwarfs defence, led to Rats Stinky opening the scoring. From the kick off, however, Nuffle certainly turned his back on the Dwarfs. The Deadites blitzed from the off and Carmanethon found himself in touching distance of the ball before the Dwarf drive had even begun. A quick turnover later and with no covering defender in touching distance, the Big C found himself scoring a fairly unique one-turn undead Touchdown.

With the game effectively over, Nuffle struck again following the demise of Mönchengladbach after receiving a hefty blow to the head from man-of-the match Sir Bruce - the Budesliga's apothecary unable to revive the player after an intensive patch-up job. Whilst the Dwarfs of Bundesliga will live to fight another day, the Deadites look forward to their semi-final match. Not that the clueless shuffling corpses have any realisation that the next match they'll play will be a semi-final... ”
