Real Sociedead fans remember a time where the Premiership was for the dead, them alone, and they kept it that way for many Seasons. The first to leave were the pure Undead, their legions of zombies relegated or worse. More recently it is the tomb Kings who have forsaken the upper echelons of the Premiership… What manner of creature could be so vile, so perverse and so terrifying to uproot these unnatural creatures from their pedestals… I will tell you… evil, thy true name is ELVES!

For the second season running it was a sad affair where High Elves not even performing greatly were vastly superior to the Real Team, zombies just do not match Elves on the field.

Karla Laburu missed the game due to his reoccurring injury, the Ghoul most capable of quelling the charge of an Elven strike force.

A deep Elven bad(?) kick set things off poorly as the speediest of Real players rallied back as the Elves charged into their half. Mummies found it hard to fend off the elves that skipped away from them and even when they did manage to throw a block, they often failed miserably, almost toppling themselves.

Zombies forced to sprint fell, and Ghouls tumbled after them like characters in children’s nursery rhyme, and Real watched the speedy little elves dart about the field with ball in hand.

The only great performance was from, as always, the Zombies who succeeded were Wights and Mummies failed, ensuring Elves were slowly but surely removed from the field… but all was a too little too late.

The score was 2 – 0 by the 3rd quarter and all that Real were left with was an opportunity to train up their injury free Wight (who didn’t stay that way for long). As it happens, the Elves retreated back after Chris Glutton kicked a Guard capable Elf that had caused the Undead many a problem all game – and still could… their coach objected to the Undead tactic, but as Xabier Prieto Argarate ran to the Endzone unchallenged, few Real supports could fail to see the effectiveness of Chris Glutton’s decision.

Well, Purp is a tough coach to beat with any team, but with Elves he can do well even when he’s not particularly rolling well as he doesn’t prescribe to the flirtatious Turnover tactics of most Elf teams, despite how much you may encourage him to do so. :(

My GFI’s were my undoing in the first half and the blockless Mummies continuing to sap my RRs even when using 3ds continues to be a killer for me.

But I also continue to play badly, not really thinking things through beyond the current turn, trying to place SS’ers into Surfing positions and good old nOOb moves like that. I think my game is suffering for my commitment to just playing a few L games.

But all in all, it wasn’t a game I was expecting to win save for great handis or a great unbalance in the dice stakes.

My second consecutive Wight aged on his second skill… sigh, were it not for that I’d have been happy even in defeat.

GG Purp – here’s to you not winning consecutive titles though. ;P
