OBFTW Coach, Purplegoo, was almost dragged to the OBBA Cup Final kicking and screaming since his players were not so keen on leaving the competition as he was… and that was very much the state that Real Socidead found the two time OBBA Premiership Champions in.

Real’s coach had to make some tough choices during the game which led to him rehiring the Count for the second game running and firing two of his players that wouldn’t be making the game, all in an effort to push for cup glory, though success still hinges on the outcome of the second Semi-Final game.

OBFTW star Blitzer had been arrested prior to the game for necrophilia after he stole away in the Real Cheerleading squad’s dressing room and the referee, a devout hater of OBFTW, had given his word that he’d look away at least once from a foul… all seemed well.

Real began with the ball and started to make their patented Zombie Shuffle up the pitch, the Count firmly in control of the ball. OBFTW seemed preoccupied with hitting the poor Chris Glutton throughout most of the first half whilst avoiding near everything else and so the score came relatively easy despite Real mainly concentrating on trying to cause damage.

Despite some near surfs and several boots only a couple of KOs had been achieved and so OBFTW were looking just as strong come the second half, so Real was expecting them to score. A change of tact for OBFTW saw them trying to make an early drive but as one of their players threw a block at a zombie without assistance and he hit the dirt it looked like OBFTW had messed up big time! With the Count in the wings waiting to scoop up the loose ball the ball carrier was quickly decked only to see the ball bounce annoyingly into the hands of another OBFTW player! Real had put all of their speedier players out of position for that blitz and so when OBFTW got their act together again they quickly switched play to out flank the much slower Real to even the score.

1 - 1

Real had so far still been heavily denied the elven blood they had desired for the game and with the clock ticking it was up to Claudio Andres Bravo Munoz to chalk one up for the good guys by killing and recruiting the ironically named, Manly Hits – the Apothecary was at a loss on how to heal the poor Elven lineman whilst Claudio still clutched his beating heart. The one CAS was one too much for the Elves who resorted to simply dodging in the way of Real, very cautious of keeping their Side Steppers in front of Real’s awkward advance.

With only a few minutes remaining it became apparent that it would take some blitzing might and the Count’s hypnotic stare to prevent the game going to overtime, so planning ahead the Count tossed the ball to Necati Ates. The Elves set their screen up once more, two men deep, off the training ground. Real made their Blitz hurling the elf into his comrades and pushing them back to help clear the way, but failing to put the elf down meant that Necati had some work to do. The Count ran in and Hypnotised another elf successfully to ease Necati’s task… the Ghoul made his dash, and just as he did against Mummywell, he brought the game to a triumphant conclusion in the dying moments to secure Real’s victory and take them to their first ever OBBA Cup Final!!!

2 – 1

Real now look forward to an all Undead final reminiscent of the good old days back when the hordes of Undead dominated all competitions. Their first real shot at Silverware for four whole seasons!

I’m almost sorry to see the end of the Metagooness. :)
Though he claims he wasn’t too interested in getting far in the cup Goo did very well, though I’d expect no less. I’d be lying however if I said he played his usual “all-out” game against me, he never once tried to break the cage for instance. As a consequence however he now has a very healthy team for next season and a great shot at taking a third title whereas my eggs have all firmly been put in one cup! :)

Difficult to take down, side stepping and annoyingly tough Elves in a good game where it was very possible for the end decision to go down to a couple of coin flips were it not for the help of Count at the end and insightful coaching to know when it’s time to dump the ball. ;)

GG Goo! Now I just need the Count to Win or Borgen to win and lose a couple of Mummies! :D
