“Fortunately, I had the dice when I needed them to be able to counter whatever Belvain tried.
Unfortunate to have a failed apoth on a gang foul late in the first half that cost BD a point of strength and a career. Shadowed Hand Fell over and MNG'd while dodging out for the revenge foul. I took the hint Nuffle and the idea of revenge was sidelined.
The second TD was the highlight for me, with a lot of factors coming together at once. And Crashing Boars Pass Block and intercept for the third TD.
Bad luck on this one GnW. Hope next season goes smoother.
Twahnlows:
3: #13 Muark Coal-Biter: NO cas, but plenty of blocks, and st4 made me play around him rather than through him.
2: #7 Glimli Steelbeard : Ruined Bison Defense with a callous foul.
1: #8 Olec "Shorty" Silverbeard: The dwarves only blocking cas.”
“This has been a very frustrating season with lots of small things going against them causing a real down turn in team confidence and causing low percentage, risky plays. This game was no different.
The elves received and stalled for a couple of turns to score mid first half playing into the Dorf plan of a boring 1-1 halftime, 2-1 stalled win. But this was not to be.
Some great positiional play from Redmai slowed and redirected the dorf offense just enough to force a semi risky pass play at the end of the half. A failed GFI at the RR, dropping the 4+ catch; leaving the ball on the ground for a turn 8 elf pickup and pass/run 3/4 of the field for a 2-0 half time lead. From there it was over.
Some stupid and cranky dorf play didnt help either - chasing cas (ineffectively) instead of securing a tight cage; and a couple of fouls (2 fouls, 2 send offs; one with the eye on opponent and one with no eye at all) left the dorfs underhanded against the slippery elves.
All in all things jjust didnt gel; the dorfs player poorly and not tight enough; and the elves were handled magnificently by Redmaul - its the subtlety of the positioning off the ball and out of TZ's that really makes the difference.
The dorf management are starting to packup the office. A redraft may be in order.... these guys are just too boring to play.
Pts
3pt: #12 Crashing Boar - AG 5 Block, Dodge, Leap, Strip Ball, Pass Block - what more can i say. He was everywhere; always made my ball carriers nervous; pulled off a pass block intercept pass for the 3rd TD.
2pt: #16 Killer King Kong (the tree!) - rooted first turn of first half, got a fairly fierce roasting from the coach and then upped his game to get 3 cas.
1pt: #1 Bastion Ape - plenty of blocks (more than any other elf) and a cas. Good solid effort; not a pansy like the rest of the team (tree excepted).”
