“The first few turns were unremarkable, but just as it looked like I was in for a another frustarting tournament appearnce, Fist of Despair had other ideas, sending his knuckles up through the jaw and skull of the opposing trolls to spectacular effect:

Maverick had sent his star bull around the back hunting the ball carrier, which I had hoped he would do. He got the ball carrier, as per the invitation, and I had his extra strong bull. It was brought down, stomped on, and removed from the game. One of my dirty players was sent off but that was a pretty decent trade for me.

From then on I was always the favourite to win the game, especially after my troll regenerated from the injury caused by Maverick's gang foul, and my apothecary was more sober than his so succeeded to keep my chaos warrior in one piece.

I played a fairly scrappy game, with little planning, but got away with it. Maverick's main mistake was to withhold his wizard and it was somewhat useless although it did open up the possibility for a near-miracle minotaur play to equalize after I'd broken down the defense and nearly gotten a beastman away to secure the game.

Nobbla played his usual part - a bit useless to start with but dynamite once the chainsaw was up and running. He provided a few useful stuns in the first half, and hurt the other bull in the second. I failed to protect him and he got knocked out a few times, but for his pain he got a well deserved MVP award.

My own personal journey towards the dark side continued by niggling a blocker with a turn 16 foul.”
