Obba Championship, Season 7 - Round 1

I normally write match reports for the OBBA... but this was such a bitter disappointment due to the dice. Both coaches had been looking forward to this match up... joking that we would get double promoted... and then meet each other... and it happened!

The game started normally, and the chaos side received, and made a tame start on the los. HOwever the lizards defence was tough with a CW BH'd from a foul and the lizards starting to flank the chaos mass.

Nothing too bad so far though.

Then nuffle struck. A blitz by beastman Roger Joslyn on Skink Simon Davies led to quad skulls... and left the ball carrier wide open.

Saurus James Collins then sacked the ball carrier, and rubbed salt in the wound by catching the bouncing ball as he followed up.

Duncan Welbourne tried to turn things round by blitzing skink Simon Church who was assting defending the saurus ball carrier. However it wasnt long before the lizards struck back.... a simple block saw another BH'd chaos player... but this time the vital tackle/MB beastman Roger Josyln... decidely bad against skinks!! The lizards then scored... 0-1 by turn 3/3.

The game kicked off again.... but the teeth had gone from the chaos side... and the lizards were just getting warmed up with another foul and another BH'd CW. The chaos ball carrier was exposed once again, and sacked once again and the fast lizards easily scored again against dwinldling chaos numbers. However, DP skink Simon Davies got spotted finally... which was a minor consilation. 0-2

The second half saw 8 chaos line up against 9 lizards. The lizards received and secured the ball... and then fouled CW Luther Blissett killing him... but fortunately the apoth saved him!

By turn 3/3 in the 2nd half the game was over... the lizards just picked off the chaos side one by one... leaving 4 chaos players on the field... and with skink craig bellamy choosing not to score on turn 8.

A one sided affair... and no points ... I predicted it would be a close game with even sides on paper... that makes it 4 encounters and 2 nufflings in my book... and I think oryx agrees!

Thanks for the game... we will have our revenge! :) .... um... maybe! :P

all in all, a rigged game. I didn't make any serious mistakes, and the missteps I did make turned out to be brilliant plays as the dice came and helped me out time after time.

wotfud's failing to see the diamond in the rough here though, it was an excellent game for him - no permanent injuries, great money for both players, and generally a gift for two teams that failed to get any friendlies at all.
