Shuddersfield Frown 1 - 1 Real Sociedead

Just when you think the final nail is in the coffin a Zombie leaps out and bites you on the ass!

Following the B’ORCa game Real were reduced to a team that resembled a new conference side and with only 10 healthy, well eligible, men facing the toughest Lizardmen team in the league wasn’t the most thrilling prospect, so when a dejected Real turned up late for the game – it wasn’t surprising.

Nevertheless, with new signing Mikel Labaka Zuriarrain Real took to the field. A virus fortunately reduced Frown to 5 Sauri and with Real receiving first they were keen to reduce that number further. With a loaded LOS they did just that KOing a Saurus and a boot stunning the Krox.

Frown held back allowing Real to proceed to the flank before releasing a premature conflagration of dumb (Patent pending by Russo Corp.) that dispatched zombies and Mummies and left the ball handler wide open. Frown blitzed the ball carrier but were unable to retrieve the ball, leaving it loose. Real manoeuvred the Frown players away from the loose ball and Iron Clad star Ghoul, Gorka Elustondo Urkola, swooped in to take control.

Frown shakily hit back, a Saurus almost knocking himself prone against an assisted Wight, just managing to compose himself, then a Skink topped it off by KOing himself! Real seized the opportunity and broke to the opposite flank whilst the Mummies and Zombies held the Lizards at bay.

The Lizards were really on the back foot, and a very desperate Saurus dodged from his markers, barely staying on his feet as the Frown coach grimaced at the bold move. A Skink threw two blocks and managed to topple himself whilst KOing a weak zombie, compounding their problems.

Real proceeded to press their advantage and their luck as they held off the blundering Lizards all the way till the end of the half to make a rare touchdown.

1 - 0

Despite taking the lead Real could only muster 8 men for the second half. The Lizards quickly reduced them to seven and collected a deep kick. Real pressed them and when the Skinks made a break for it they wheeled back.

Frown made a defensive move that on any other day would have left them covered, but the combination of a confused Krox and a KOed Skink left their ball handler wide open for an easy Blitz! Gorka ran in and plucked the ball up only to fall short of dodging away. Frown quickly recovered themselves and ran in for the TD.

1 - 1

There was still plenty of time for Real to make it 2 – 1 even with seven men, but with Frown quickly reorganising themselves and a miss handled ball suddenly it looked like Frown may take the victory. Real recovered the ball and fouled one of the threatening Skinks off the field leaving Frown with a more difficult attempt at releasing the ball and collecting it for the score, alas - consistent to the end - they failed.

In the final moments of the game, professional Mummy coach, SeraphimRed, instructed his new signing to head butt a nearby Saurus right on the whistle – gaining valuable bashin’ experience and earning him the MVP for the flair on the field.

The game ended 1 – 1, but it felt like a 7 – 1 for Real.

Xxx
My apologies to Wilf for turning up an hour late due to stupidity. If that wasn’t enough he then had to endure nuffle taking a big stick to him.

Midway into the first half he just couldn’t roll anything, blocks failed in such a spectacular way that I was quite confident that I would be able to hold the game up till the end of the half, and I did just that.

I was totally expecting him to level the game up, but wasn’t counting on the fact that I’d actually take the ball – scuppered only by a dodge. Then, after the perfect defence it looked touch and go but 4 dices on the Wight without result finally secured the draw much to my relief.

The 16th turn CAS + MVP for the Rookie Mummy was shear brilliance on my part. ;)

The scary thing now is that Real could actually manage to stay up if they win their final game! It’s a long shot – but then, it always is!

This was the first time I’d played Wilf and he took the dicing very well, a great testament to a good coach to play.

If you can walk from a dicing with no perms and a draw – it’s not all bad in my opinion, though I don’t think Wilf quite agrees on this occasion. :)

Thanks for the game Wilf – I look forward to the rematch. ;)
