Coming into this game, I knew that I had to turn this match into a fist-fight and thin out his ranks. Otherwise, the elves high agility and speed advantage would cut me to shreds. The fist-fight I wanted happened, but more because the dice where working the elves over then any clever stratagem on my part.

Long story short, the elves were failing critical skill rolls, which allowed the dwarves to turn the game into a brawl around the ball. The elves lost a number of key players early, so the dwarves had a man advantage after the 1st turn. The dwarves had a chance to win the game late in the 2nd half, only to fail double-fail a GFI/reroll to score.

The overtime was noteworthy. The elves were receiving the kick, and were only able to field 8 players to the dwarves 11. The dwarves setup to stop a quick score, only to have a pitch invasion stun 7 of their players on the kickoff, including their entire LOS. Confident that this spelled doom, the dwarves put up a token defense, with the elves moving the ball deep into their territory. The dwarves managed a double-dodge-GFI/reroll-1d block on the ball carrier, which KO'd the carrier. On the bounce, the ball moved to the other side of the field, at the feet of the majority of the standing dwarven players, who managed a dodge-pickup. The next turn, the dwarves managed to retain possession of the ball, allowing the dwarves stunned on the kickoff to finally stand up and get into the game. The dwarves superior numbers and lots of Guard let them contain the elves in the ensuing fight, run the ball loose, and finally score. Game ends, 1-0.

Exciting game; there were a few moments in the game when I was sure I'd lost. Some bad luck early on in each half sucked up my opponents rerolls and let the dwarves play the sort of game they do best at.
