NAFFLE Season 2 - Rd 1

The Slayers sailed into cold northern waters play the Fathers, the leagues new Norse team.

The Slayers recevied the first kick and laid into the LOS, stun stun KO. A bad kick had given the ball to Rakaph the Fallen, so that was one pickup attempt I didn't have to make. The Slayers caged up and began their grind. Other than a SI (mng) to George, the Slayers couldn't manage much in the way of cas, but by the T8 score there were 4 in the KO box.

Second half started with 2 Norsemen still unwilling to suit up. They'd had enough, and the Slayers hadn't even opened up a can of whupass yet! Another quick KO and Osorus rip boot on John 'Angry' Adams (first kill of Season two WOOT!) soon had the Fathers playing four men down. A desperation play to slice thru the Khemri line where some undisciplined play had left a gap looked to get the Norse ma7 ag4 lino free but a couple of stumbles forced him to pull up just short of his maximum distance.

The skellies scrambled to get recover and just managed a 2d block on the ball. Pow! Stun! Thus ended the Fathers best chance at a score. The Slayers quickly scooped up the ball and recaged. The Fathers gave a go of it, with a couple of blitzers continually knocking down the mummies, but it wasn't enough.

On T15 the mummies finally woke up and began laying the wood with two more cas on consecutive hits. Sekhmek continued his uninspired play (one cas in eight games!), being the only mummy to not cas. But the gods smiled on him and gave him the mvp, so he's finally skilled up.

All in all a typical Khemri 2-0 grind out. Flashback played well, but his team kept letting him down. A few more good rolls and this game could've ended very differently. Welcome to the league Flashback, and hopefully you'll get better dice vs. the other players :) !

#3 John 'Angry' Adams – Dead (RIP)
N.A.F.F.L.E. Season 2 - Game 1

I would have preferred to play the opponent I was originally scheduled to play before we had to do the reboot because some knucklehead entered a Ranked team into a League tournamen! Some nice squishy Dark Elves were just what the Founding Fathers needed to recover from 2 back-to-back beatings at the hands of some tough dwarves. But no, as Nuffle would have it, we drew a Khemri team as our first opponent. And a good one to boot!

The first half started off ok, with both teams trading licks and the Fathers managing to stay on the field mostly. A few KOs and stuns, but nothing bad until some mummy tried to SI George Mason (Ogre). Our apothecary was quick to get George back on the field, but my opponent warned I might regret it. He was sort of right: George ended up getting SI'd later by another mummy, or it could have been the same one, I can't tell them apart. I just know it wasn't Sekhmek the Sissy! At any rate, having George around for several more turns probably saved lives. Unfortunately, it didn't save John Adams from a boot to the head from Osorus Backstabber. John's armor was a little weak from a previous injury anyway, so I don't know if I would have used the apothecary on him. The second half I had a chance to make a great play, except all my GFIs kept coming up 1s, so I burned 2 rerolls and Big John Hancock had to stop a step earlier than I would have liked. 1 more step might have made the difference between the 2-die blitz he received, and a 1-die blitz that would have needed a GFI or a 2-die blitz that would have needed 2 GFIs by skeletons. But who am I kidding, the Sandsea Slayers were making pickups, dodges, and GFIs all game long where my Fathers were flopping all over the pitch every time they attempted anything that wasn't hitting something. And as sigmar pointed out, I got hosed on the skeleton armor rolls: 0/0/0 casualties baby!

Ah well, it wasn't a fun match but it was a fun opponent and as always I learned something from it. Some day I'll put all this knowledge together and maybe win a tournament or a league. Until then, I'll continue to enjoy meeting new people and rebuilding my teams. Good luck sigmar, and thanks for putting up with a lot of complaining in the 2nd half.

(Edited note: this was the second game played in the new NAFFLE season. Woot!)
