Mortarian's Guards returned for their sixth Orcland game, having had a rough time of it in earlier games, winning only once and suffering 4 deaths. They faced a powerful looking PHD Juggernauts, and started out down two players.

The first half opened with Ogre domination and a few effective fouls. While the Guards managed to take out a goblin, they lost two in exchange, leaving them outnumbered 10 to 7. With those odds things looked very grim, but whilst the Juggernauts stalled, Satharial managed to free Melthas to make a run at the ball. After an improbable series of dodges, he managed to knock Premature Baldness over and the ball loose. Veratas was soon near to help try to prevent the pickup and manged to pull down the ogre Bar'Re the Bonder with him before the ogre could shove him into the fans. This allowed the immensely strong Chenthal on the scene, to clear a space. Melthas somehow managed to steal the ball from under the eyes of two goblins, and then handed the ball to Chenthal, who resisted all attempts to take him down as time ran out.

The second half opened and things had begun to look up for the Guards. Down only one player now, they got a good jump on the Juggernauts, and soon started moving the deep kick down one sideline. The Guards broke through the ogre line and started downfield. Dodging away from several ogres and marking all within reach as well, it seemed like the Guards had a safe score in hand. Bar'Re redeemed himself however, dodging away from tacklers, sprinting, and then KO'ing the ball carrier, Melthas. Testicular Atrophy also escaped the brawl (including the tentacles of Satharial) to recover the ball. While the Guards proceeded to remove more goblins, ball handing and time management eluded them, leaving time to run out before they could score.

Sudden death saw insanity piled upon insanity. Trips at the worst time for both teams, many scary dodges, the amazing skills of the ogre Hose-can Stinko in dodging and picking up the ball, even with the frightful appearance of the rotters, and the failed last second pass attempt to score.

All in all an exciting match. I almost wish the Juggernauts had won the coin toss, as I believe they will be better prepared to match the competition that I am now likely to face. Even so, credit goes to Flashback13 for an excellent game.

#11 Testicular Atrophy – Dead (RIP)
Orcland Wooden Shield Mar '10 round 1

The coach of the Juggernauts got a case of the Boneheads when he stalled too long in the 1st half and completely botched what should have been an easy TD. Second half the Ogres were actually missing a few due to a poor KO roll. Then Mortarian's Guards caught whatever was in the Ogre's water because they miscounted the turn and also missed out on a TD. OT saw the Juggernauts receiving but with only 1 goblin. the Guards quickly took him out, then amazingly Hose-Can Stinko picked up the ball and started running. And dodging! He tripped on a GFI but got right back up, picked up the ball, dodged a tentacle, and ran some more! But he still fell short as 3 Guards caught up to him and knocked him down. The Guards then moved the ball downfield with the Juggernauts trying to cover 5 players with 3 Ogres. They managed to cover the receivers, forcing a dodge and a short pass into the endzone for a chance at the win, but the ball sailed out of bounds as the game ended. The coin toss went in the Guards favor, as it should have.

Good game, Palorrin, and good luck in the rest of the tournament.
