“The Quendi came in expecting to be steamrolled by the reigning Premiere champs. The first half Nufflucked received the ball, and pounded their way down the field. Fortunately for the VQ the best they were able to do with all that blocking was 3 KO's. On turn 7 screech made his move to get the ball carrying hobgoblin down to scoring position, protected by Nipsy. A 1d blitz on the ball only came up with a push, but at least put a sidestepper next to the ball to aggravate him. There are some games where the outcome hinges on one or two plays, t8 of the first half was one of those times. Needing to knockdown a blodge sidestep catcher to free up the hobgob, the block tackle mightyblow Nipsy winds up for his 2d block on that little catcher....and totally misses. Two skulls come up, Nipsy collapses and the half ends still 0-0.

Second half starts with some of the smarter elves still pretending to be KO'd, and the Quendi can only field 9. A perfect defense looks to kill off our drive right from the start, but we manage to knock down most of the LOS anyway. Turn 2 the elves are able to make their move. A big blitz by our DP BH's a hobgob and opens the path for a young lino to receive a pass and run downfield, well out of range behind a loose wall of teammates. A few turns later a Nufflucked blitz pushes the lino in for the TD.

Nufflucked receives the following kickoff with plenty of time to march downfield against the depleted elf squad and salvage the tie on the last turn.

All in all, a great showing from Valar Quendi. Certainly better than the coach expected, we had our chances to come up with a win, but just couldn't hold them off long enough. With no damage done the team may be turning the corner and heading to better days.

As a side note, I just realized this was a high elf team outblocking a chaos dwarf team....I don't imagine that happens often. Made more impressive with the realization that we were outnumbered most of the match.

And now, the team gets to look forward to playing another CD team next week :(
