“Season XXXX - Game 2
The Woodies had many fierce battles against the Da Greenskin Raiders back in the day. Whilst the Placeholders are no Raiders and the Woodies are a shadow of their formerselves this game was eagerly anticipated by the masses.
The game started in typical fashion the Woods received and were instantly under pressure from a high pressing CD defence. However just when all seemed lost the boys got out of trouble and in behind the defence. With some good covering work Whoberry managed to score just before halftime.
The 2nd half also started as expected. The Placeholders set up a solid cage with the ball safely in the hands of the bull Imp. With time running out and the game looking set for a draw Whoberry made what a desperate play. Darting between the stunty cage he managed to get a hit on the bull. Much to everyones surprise Imp went to ground like a big girl's blouse. The men of Wood were so stunned that no one even tried to stop Makeshift grabbing the ball and crossing for the equiliser.
Despite conceeding the TD Whoberry's efforts had inspired the boys. With seconds left on the clock the Woodies pulled off a quick TD under lots of pressure to steal the win.

It was short-lived however, and despite a good presence and another go at the ball once the elves stole it back it wasn't to be, a long running play put the ball well out the CD's reach and with only 1 Bull who was easily distracted the Elves stalled the half-out on the CD end-zone.
Expecting that all they could aim for was a draw the CD's tried to reduce the elves numbers and cage the ball up-field, finally getting next to the Elves end-zone the CD's were shocked when a stunning elven blitz through multiple TZ's (with RR already used) and a 2db opponents choice against the ball-carrier (the Bull Centaur) came up double POW's (and MNG!!). With the ball loose and chaos everywhere the CD's were lucky to pick-up the pill and run it in, but in hindsight it was enough, as it caused the Temps to score a turn early.
Leaving only 7 elves with 2 turns to score... A fantastic kick left the ball square in front of all 3 blockers on the LoS! but with two players down-field a failed PuB bounced the ball right into the waiting hands of an adjacent elf blitzer... Who caught it in 3 TZ's and then took the following blocks with ease.
After that, a pass and some 3+ dodging was cakewalk for the winning TD.
