The cliche of 'a game of two halves' could not be more apt.

First half the Cake boys could do no right. Suffering two casualties (one apo'd) and 5 KOs combined with snakes and a complete failure to knock any of the stinking opposition over. A half of frustration was only redeemed by all but one KO coming back for the second period.

The second half started poorly with a perfect defence roll allowing the Fringe Events to load the LoS. A failed dodge left the Cakes in trouble. A long pass, and all of the sudden Pumpkin was in the clear, but easily blitzable. The failed blitz and a speed bump TD, which left Fauxlivia in the Cas box, tied the game for the High Elves.

But had the dice turned?

With three rerolls burned in the first three turns of the half, Fringe Events were at the mercy of the dice and just when required most they deserted their coach, with two sets of double skulls: the first enabling a blitz on the ball carrier (favourable throw from the crowd allowed Banoffee to pick it up) and the second allowing the elves to protect the ball carrier. Before running in unopposed on turn 8.

Final score 2-1 to the Cakes.

#8 Fauxlivia – Groin Strain (MNG)
This was a classic dice-taunting. Nuffle gave us a first half that had every promise of a 2-1 victory in it.

Second half though, we gave up the score (not unexpected vs. elves). However, the manner was ill-omened. Having pinned the ball carrier at the sideline with a pest and a rotter, we figured to at least make it a chore to get free. Instead, a Guard elf dodged in and let the ball carrer 2db his way free. Not really that big a surprise, but on that same scoring play, the ball carrier got a cas/mng/no-regen from my ball carrier. My blodge, extra arms, sure hands pestigor was out for the game.

That was it. We probably weren't going to score anyway against an AG5 Strip Baller without Sure Hands, but the dice imploded on us. Two turns were lost to first-block double-skulls, and the elves got the favorable bounces and blocks they needed.

GG Raughri.
