“We knew it was coming, and today we must face it: one of our goats has died. Buttercup, fatally injured by a dwarf, becomes the first casualty of this Blood Bowl mission. Her mother Maria grieves for her, and the whole team resolves to do better.

As for the game itself, it was something of a mixed affair. The first half was a source of frustration, with Buttercup only one of multiple injuries and the dwarves pretty firmly in control of the game. The second half proved more exciting, as the team took out four dwarves in one turn, and Crazy Henrik scored a touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff, Hickory (who's really developing a knack for this blitz thing) got the jump on the dwarves again to go up 2-1. With only 3 turns to go and the goats holding up well to pressure, it seemed like a fourth straight win for Farmer Ed's team.

A last desperate gasp saw a lone dwarf runner sprint down the field. Farmer Ed himself dodged out and met the dwarf, confident in his superior size and blocking ability. What happened next is a mystery. Maybe Ed was still thinking about poor Buttercup. Maybe he got cocky and didn't block well. Whatever the case, the dwarf sent Ed to the turf, took the handoff, and ran it in for the game-tying score.

Dwarves are always a tough opponent, and especially so for goats. Who knows if Farmer Ed's team is aware of the long and brutal history of dwarven goat-herding? This time, the dwarves proved just a bit too tough to handle, and exacted a sad price on the team. But the team remains undefeated, and resolves to carry on with renewed determination. The next dwarves they face may not be so lucky...”
