1. OWCC Ssn 7[/b], Cup game 1

With 500 TV diff, AL brought on 3 real threats - Eldril, a merc Wardancer, and a Wizard - loading for bear and meaning business. But Nuffle chose the victor today, in the form of terrible WElf dodge/blitz dice, and Casualties that thinned the AV 7 WElfs beyond the ability to contest the final score. 9(!) cas total, including 7(!) by the MB Saurus, and not a single BH against the Expats - and their only KO, via Wizard, was too late in the game to matter.

Expats coaches started the game with a mental errour before the first kick, choosing to receive out of habit. But they made the most of it and more, cas'ing Eldril out of the game before he could see Turn 1. An Expat misclick aborted the stall Turn 6, giving AL 3 Turns to match the score. A GFI cost them their last RR, but they got 3 Blodgers in scoring range at the end of Turn 6. Turn 7 the Expats 3d'd their Catcher BH'd, and mobbed the other likely scorer. AL answered by blitzing, dodging and GFI'ing #3 into the endzone, but then the 3+ pass failed - ball on the ground. Expats surfed the would-be receiver into reserves and recovered, but again the coaching staff went funny in the head and the screen was badly flawed. But the blitz was Push/Push - half over, Expats 1-0.

Receiving to start the 2nd half, 8 AL players pushed down one sideline, and the Expats over-committed against the threat of the Leaping ballcarrier. They succeeded in stopping that side, but when AL changed sides they were out of range to do more than mark the ballcarrier, who scored Turn 3, 1-1.

Turn 3 saw the AL St 4 lino finally(!) wake up to replace a dodging lino BH'd - 8 WElfs v. the Lizard lineup, with Eldril, the Blodgestepping Catcher, the WElf Kicker and one of their few Dodging Linos among those missing. Expats moved up cautiously, well aware that the Wizard was still in play. The Merc wardancer tried a 1d blitz on the ballcarrier - and skulled, RR'd (successfully!) to another skull, and BH'd himself out (skilling the rookie Skink in the process). Expats added to this next Turn by RIP'ing AL's +MA Wardancer, apo'd MNG - the only real threats out (except the Wiz).

That left the Expats with 4 Turns to stall and score, and AL with one Blodge Guard, one Wrestler, one unskilled St 4 lino, and 3 j-men - and the Wizard. The Wrestler went out Turn 6, and the Turn 7 fireball only went 1 for 3, and not the right one. Turn 7 Expats saw the remaining 4 players in the dirt and out of range of any play on the ball, handed off to a Saurus for another Skill, and scored uncontested next Turn for the 2-1 win.”
