“The Necros pounded on us today but with a good first half and a solid enough defence we managed the win despite struggling after half time.
Spartacus started with the ball after a touchback. He moved into the middle of the pack. Ulver the werewolf had been knocked down but unhurt by Amazonia. It promptly bounded to its feet and clawed the Saurus mightily. Great work was needed from the apo to save him from death and leave him raring to go again. We took out one zombie but as they pressured us Spartacus went for the touchdown.
The crowd came on the pitch but didn't hurt a fly. We were down to 8 for the defence. Abramenlin got the ball and Nocturnal Lunacy spread out. A couple of Saurii went to harass their cage corners and crucially when the ghoul tried to move off Superiore tripped him up. Outeiro got the ball and raced off to the corner just out of reach. 2-0. There was still a little time left for the Lunatics but a handoff to a Wolf just didn't work out and we survived to half time.
The match was looking good but it wasn't over yet. They charged down our flank but left Rio Grande a clean shot on the ghoul which he gleefully took advantage of. But after a skink trip Ulver blitzed well and scored. Amazonia had been injured by a zombie of all things, and Santo's fall also ended his match so we needed to be careful now. Our drive was characterised by further weakening of the Saurii but fortunately for us the opposing coach elected not to go for a couple of blitz chances on the ball carrier, Outerio, and we were home and dry 3-1. Well not quite home and dry as Outeiro, the 2 TD hero, was killed by a Flesh golem in the brief final moments following the last kickoff!
A good win, but the Champions now cannot afford to have a full permanent roster!
