“Semi-finals of Fumbbl Minors 1900TW III-3.

The wood elfs decided to kick in the first half, probably hoping for a defensive touchdown while having a full squad to defend and steal the ball. After kick-off the ball landed right into the hands of a rookie zombie who was so surprised with it that he forgot to hand it off to our sure hands blodge ghoul. An opposing wardancer lept into to cage and knocked the poor zombie down, kicking the ball loose. Luckily for us the ball didn't scatter out of the cage and a ghoul managed to pick it up the next turn. The remainder of the first half we managed to keep the ball relatively safe (despite another leap attempt which failed) and scored in turn 8, meanwhile dealing out some damage. One wardancer was badly hurt in turn 6, which reduced the pressure on the ball a little. Walpurgis 2 made an effort for the one-turner to equalize before half-time, but finally came one square short to pull it off.

The second half started with the 8 remaining wood elfs receiving. They committed heavily to the left half in the first turn, only to switch to the right half in turn two, but luckily I more or less saw it coming and managed to correct my defense. It also left their remaining wardancer open to be blitzed. The wood elfs failed to push through and had to pull back somewhat to protect the ball. The ideal moment to use the Custard Pie I had drawn from the Dirty Tricks deck! The tree was hypnotized, allowing me to run a few players through for a 2d blitz on the ball. The blitzing werewolf recovered the ball, at which point the opposition pretty much gave up.
