“The Warhird were still downhearted after their first game in which they were held to a 0-0 draw. Their coach Garion was not impressed and neither were the spectators.

The 2nd game of their season was against a team called Mount Thug Bonegrinders, It was again played in the Norse Dwarfs lands. So many Dwarfs and Norse came to watch this much heralded team show their metal. 7000 strong to be exact, and only 6000 for the opposition who no one really knew anything about.

The Norse Dwarf team took to the pitch ready for the game, to find 4 giants towering above them, while a swarm of pixies flitted about back field. The Norse Dwarfs looked uneasy at the thought of facing this opposition. They had memories from their youth when giants used to play along side the Norse players and it invariably ended up with their opposition being dismembered.

The Norse Dwarfs won the toss and opted to receive first. Hoping that their Slayer could take a couple Giants down early on. The Giants kicked and unsurprisingly the ball flew out of the stadium, killing a Carrion bird circling a distant eyrie. A replacement ball was quickly brought on to the pitch and placed in the runners hands. The whistle blew and the Slayer tried to take down a Giant, he rose to the occasion dauntless and aggressive, though only managed to push the giant back before being a few yards. Coach Garion placed his head in his hands in dismay. Was the pressure getting too much for the players. He signalled to the players to screen and just go for a touch down down one of the flanks, and hope the clumsy giants are too slow.

The Giants soon made their strength and presence felt. The Slayer was targetted first and quickly dispatched. Next a few linemen were carted off the pitch in to the dug out. The Dwarfs though managed to dash through the defensive line and had just enough bodies left to see them safe to the end zone. It wasn't easy and at times it looked like the giants brutality was too much. The Dwarfs were just too small and escaped the giants grasp.

The 2nd half ensued. Garion was feeling relieved to go in 1-0 at half time as he looked at his depleted squad for the 2nd half, he did not really fancy his chances of escaping with a win.

Though on turn 3 there was a gap in the Pixies cage. The Berserker dodged in to the heart of the cage and knocked the ball carrier down. The ball bounced free to the feet of the giant. The Giant quickly knocked the berserker to the floor stunning him in the process. The Pixies swarmed around the ball grabbing it handing it off to a pixie down field who scored.

Most of the half was still ahead of them and the Dwarfs had 8 players to field vs a full team. They giants kicked with a little more control this time, using only his big toe to flick the ball in to the Dwarfs half. The Dwarf Runner grabbed the ball and headed for the side lines again, hoping they could pinch another TD before the end of the game. The Giants had other ideas though. They
seriously injured another Dwarf straight away, then started swarming round the ball carrier with their pixies. But then an opening presented its self, a pixie fell as it quickly tried to rush in to a defensive position. The Dwarfs again headed further down the wing, moving as quickly as their little legs could take them. This didn't appear fast enough though, the Dwarf cage was quickly surrounded by Giants and one loomed over the Dwarf Runner, the Runner Dodges away from the giant and smacked a pixie out of his way en route to the end zone, he was now only a few yards away from the end zone. A Giant broke away from the tackle zones of the Dwarfs marking him and knocked the Dwarf ball carrier down, the ball scattering out of play and the crowd throwing it back on. The Pixies had their chance now. They grabbed the ball and attempted a hand over which would give them a good chance of victory but the Pixie fumbled and the ball scattered away. The Dwarfs at this point changed plans and played for the draw trying to put as many bodies around the ball as they could. The Pixies again went for the pick up and hand off but there were too many players around and they couldn't keep a hold of the ball. The ball again fell in to the hands of the crowd who threw the ball deep in to the Dwarfs half but the time was up. The pixies did not have time to retrieve the ball and move down field.

The game ended up 1-1 to the relief of the Norse Dwarfs, their fans and their coach. ”
