“Belated Black Box Brawl Birthday Bash Round 2:
We opened up with a blitz, allowing us to get into several elf tackle zones. A fortunate ball bounce on the kick-off avoided a touchback and resulted in the ball next to our Beast of Nurgle.
They were able to recover but we were able to more or less close them in and eventually were able to knock the ball loose. A quick double skulls followed by snake eyes left hte ball exposed but we were unable to really capitalize, failing our pick-up attempt. They were able to recover, sprint deep into our zone and complete a pass, sealing the TD.
Our second half began with a free bribe for both sides and a beast of nurgle triple skulls, which, thankfully, didn't leave us too exposed, but definitely in a less than ideal situation.
We failed a gfi to complete our cage on T3 leaving our ball carrier exposed to a wrestle. Our Beast was then fouled and KOed. The ball was again loose, we were unable to stun their 5 ag catcher with a foul + 2 assists, and he was able to scoop the loose ball in a TZ, dodge out and hand it off to another catcher.
The "get the ref" played a key role in the match, as it allowed the elves to foul and do so rather effectively. It was likely the key difference between a 1-1 tie and a loss.
We managed to add a late TD on a 4+ pass attempt to make the score look less ugly :).”
