“What a game!
Daring plays, spectacular failures and surprising achievements.

First half saw Grizzlies receiving. They had three players missing, all of them power players. Their drive opened without much oomph. They quickly came into disarray, and when ogre Akeem Spence knocked himself down the way was opened for Vikings to steal the ball. Cornelius Washington ran far down and couldn't be reached. There was even time for a solid foul on niggled super star Panzer Echol, but not even a break there. Grizzlies pushed into an advantage in players and Cornelius walked in the score after 4 turns.

Next drive broke down in a similar manner, part from starting with Juqua Parker being killed! The apo saved that. This time Jeff Rodenberger was in charge of the ball, but when dauntless catcher Kayvon Webster knocked Spence out of the way, Cornelius got another chance and stripped the ball free. Vikings couldn't get to it, but when Rodenberger tried to run for a score he couldn't pass the leg of Lipican and crashed down. Grizzlies now out of scoring range, the Vikings moved forward and also took the ball. But on the return Lipican was badly hurt and half ended 1-0.

Lots of skulls in the first drive, and then several 1's in the second saw the grizzlies fail to go anywhere. But now the injuries had clearly shifted the strength on field to favour the grizzlies...this could get ugly.

We opted to go hard up one side and hope for a 2-turn TD. We got a hole, but needed one 2+ dodge without reroll to make it, apart from the sure feet dashing of Hill. It was made, and we were up 2-0 after 2 turns.

Another drive that started weak by grizzlies, meaning that Vikings could tear up the line of defense around the ball. David Brown got in a frenzied blitz on equal strength and rolled a POW to send the ball into the hands of Hill standing there. He was brought down, the ball going into the tackle zone of both teams. Jonathan Crompton, in his first game for Grizzlies, then picked the ball up, threw it past an interceptor and accurately to Rodenberger. Bam! 2-1 and 4 more turns to go for both teams.

Hill had recovered from being KO and was part of pushing forward into scoring range. That daring was then punished, his neck broken by the blitz. Such a great loss.

Christine broke free, to within a few paces of the end zone. Brown made a couple of daring dodges and threw the ball... accurate! But the catch was fumbled. That opened for Zach Ertz to pick it up. Vikings sought to close all scoring options, and seemed successful. Christine made an equal strength blitz at Ertz, but didn't get the ball. Grizzlies were left with one option. Hand over to Ed Stinson, who would then have to run at full speed for two turns (4 gfi) without any support by his side. He dashed ahead.

Vikings needed to dodge away to bring the ball down, but the very first dodge was a crash. Two more gfi and the score was 2-2.
