“This game is what cup matches are all about (or so I think, I've only played the one...)!

On what was a fine day for a spot of Bloodbowl, the Ratlingburg Raiders travelled to play the mighty Northern Nutjobs full of confidence with the scent of ale in the air. Having chosen to receive the kick, the Nutjobs began grinding their way up the pitch while the Raiders looked to remove some bodies. Raiders' Rat Ogre, Viskt Skittarskik had turned up ready to play and soon dispatched Norse Lineman Larry to the casualty box, only to be sent there himself moments later! The Raiders managed to inflict a couple of KOs, but the Nutjobs had enough numbers to reach the line and Veritable Verity duly dotted over for 1-0, with a spot of late drama at the end of the half when Ultimate Alf was killed thanks to Raiders' sneaky git Critt Kisskittar. The Doc did what they could and Alf will live to nuffle another day. Critt's day was also over as even a FUMBBL ref can't let a straight killing slide!!

With a numbers advantage heading into the 2nd half, the Raiders Came flying out of the blocks with an early score, leaving plenty of time for the Nutjobs to get back ahead. They tried to grind up again, but some patient defense (and luck) saw the Raiders dispatch enough bodies to get hold of the the ball in front of their own line. A glorious winning play was attempted but alas the ball was fumbled and into overtime we went!

It was looking good for the raiders until the Nutjobs passed ALL FIVE of their KO recovery rolls to mean they now outnumbered the Skaven team. What's more, the Nutjobs won the 2nd toss of the match to receive the kick. Nuffle wasn't done with twists though and a fumbled pick up gave Gutter Runner Dur Azr all the opportunity he needed for a speedy steal and score for 2-1. With plenty of time on the clock and gaps all over the pitch, the mighty Norsemen charged back down the other end (securing the ball straight away this time), with Verity grabbing her 2nd to draw the teams level once again.

With 2 turns left in overtime and numbers lacking, the question was COULD THE RAIDERS ANSWER?! Dramatic scenes ensued as excited fans mobbed the pitch, stunning the Skaven Thrower (they thought it was all over!). Just when it seemed all hope of victory was lost, OH YES! The WONDERPASS from Voss K. Amongst a mass of bodies in the middle of the pitch, some dutiful Raiders linemen managed to create the smallest pocket of space for Dur Azr, Voss picked him out, and with a few dodges and a rush, he was over for a memorable win at the death.

What a great game! Hopefully the next Cup game can match it.”
