#5 Arthur Dent – Serious Injury (NI)

COACH WILSON LAUDS TEAM AFTER FIRST WIN

It may have taken them nine games, but the new coach of the Unicorns finally has a win and beamed with glee when talking about his team's performance.

"We've suffered more than our fair share of bad luck, especially in the loss to Flashfurt and having to come from behind against Praag. But I think we've cashed that in with some good fortune today."

The Wolfskins arrived with a sixteen-man team but half of the squad will be holed up in the Merchant Guild's Saint Sebastian's Hospital for a few days as they recover from a bloodthirsty clash.

Just as they did against the Universe, the home team started strongly. Juan Thornhill injured Paxton Marn whilst Rafa Brigante knocked out Jonah Solton. Carlos Lobato then chinned Quinnen Williams and the visitors were three men down. They immediately hit back with Balazs Szabo taking advantage of captain Ottmar Wirt's niggling injuries to put him out of action for the game and Simon Braddock brought the pain to Arthur Dent. The two would sit out the rest of the game but got a first-class view of Bruno Giza crossing the line once again.

Without their star thrower, the Unicorns had to alter their game plan and it was a cagey first half with both sides preferring not to mark one another too closely. However, Cristian Raver failed to follow Coach Ratbane's orders and substitute Thrower Logan Woodside dropped his shoulder and sent Raver over the front row and into the spectators. That exposed the right flank of the Wolfskins and the Unicorns went to work...

Thomas Leboucher, who has been keeping opposing apothecaries employed all season, sacked Nicolas Brill and, relentlessly following up, uppercut him into the vacant seat next to Raver. BJ Hill has never been reluctant to follow his teammates into the action and his front kick cut short Szabo's afternoon.

The second half plays followed a similar plan; Unicorns flailing fists meeting Wolfskin faces. Leboucher took out BY Astoria and Brigante elbow dropped the prone David Montgomery and then headbutted Lamont Gaillard causing all three victims to leave the field. In the meantime, Tyler Lockett scored his 54th career touchdown but, it seemed, he almost did so against his better judgement as he knew that it would result in another period of defensive play and his lack of teammates made the prospect decidedly unwelcome.

Leboucher had clearly not had enough of Raver and knocked him out in a frenzy of knees and elbows. Giza injured Braddock with a left hook. Leboucher, the mad Bretonnian, turned his ire on Jamie Maddox and injured him. The offensive wall kept its shape and used the numerical advantage to protect the ball.

Logan Woodside made a simple hand-off to Giza who took his time to evade his pursuers and cross the line late in the second half, taking his career tally to 26.

The last thrashings of the match resulted in a foolish trip from Sean Bunting, knocking him out, having usefully provided assists for his teammates throughout the game. And there was just enough time for Hill to knock-out Raver, who must have felt as if he had been targeted as he was knocked out three times in the match and had failed in his handful of first half fouls.

Carroburger Thornhill earned the MVP after inflicting a casualty in his past three starts.

Post-match, Wilson was asked what had caused this dramatic change in his team's fortunes; "Patience, practice, and an unrelenting desire to cause as much physical damage to our opponents as possible."
