“NWBL Week 4 -

Week 4 the Bashers matched up with the Human Reikdorf Revenants. Coming into the match we were most concerned with Blitzer Wilhelm Tarnentz and he definitely played a role in this match up. We received and were surprised to see Wilhlem on the LOS. We dragged him back and were able to get 4 players helping for the Yazzy boot, but the first only left him stunned. Otherwise, Hizdoo secured the ball and we worked to establish the scrum. Our opponent's first turn was a disaster for us as he took out Mogg with a foul of his own. We were still in good shape after a KO block from one of the bigs, and a boot from Yazzy that took Wilhelm out of the game until their team doctor was able to bring him back on the sideline. The boot cost us as well as the ref spotted Yazzy and ejected him. We had stabilized, but we lost Gortag turn 3 as he attempted to block a halfling hopeful. Both went down, but Gortag wouldn't play again this game. Down 3 Crucial players by Turn 3 and knowing they weren't coming back made for a pretty poor outlook, but we pressed on with the drive managing to find a possible edge up the sideline. The Revenants weren't having any part of it and slammed us into the wall with seemingly no escape in sight. The smallest of chances opened as it became clear that one of the defenders was a halfing and Hizdoo may have a chance to push through him to escape the maul. He managed to do just that and only needed to dodge away one more time to pull away to the endzone.

Second half, Reikdorf was still solidly in control: up 11 men to our 8, and our 3 out being crucial players. They took the ball early up a sideline but before they could secure a cage, a failed blitz on one of our bigs would leave the carrier exposed. The only option was a Hizdoo blitz while Mook tried to assist, and it managed to get the carrier on the ground followed by a fortuitous bounce. Hizdoo recovered the ball and started making his way to the opposite endzone, but was sacked soon after. The humans managed to recover and sped through the center of the field hoping for the quick score to a waiting catcher in range of the endzone, but the carrier stumbled just before he reached him. In a strange turn of events Ugg ended up with the ball and managed to kill enough time that the Revenants weren't able to score back sealing a 1-0 victory.

This victory pulls the Basher record to 2/2/0. Week 5 we are set to face the Karond Kar Wreck Dark Elf Squad. They boast two blitzers: Ulthar Darar and Linivi Sithik that are very skilled that we have to be aware of, as well as a Witch Elf waiting to push us into the crowd, but they're a little beat up this season - likely fielding 3 Journeymen. Luckily, in spite of our injuries this match, we're healthy and should be ready to go.
