This was a close match on paper, but then the Hellbringers started their offence, and in the opening seconds of the match, Troll Smasher Vomitflesh smashed Jerks Mummy Mr Hide all the way into the casualty bin.

The Hellbringers then proceeded to pound the Jerks as they ground the ball slowly upfield, knocking out player after player, and getting an extra casualty or two along the way. Despite this, the Jerks played some remarkable defence (quite a few one dice pows, and even 2 two dice I choose double pows in a row!!!). However, the Hellbringers just had too many players and Bull Centaur Kzakorag Stormfist was fed the ball for his first ever TD near the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Jerks pushed forward hard with their Ghoul Zeppo Jr. The Hellbringers smashed him to the ground, and knocked the ball several paces from him, then surrounded him. Remarkably, the Ghoul stood up, and dodged several players once, then twice, picked up the ball in front of two players, dodged again, then sprinted into the end zone for a TD! (What an amazing string of rolls, 4+ dodge without dodge reroll, then 5+ dodge with dodge reroll, 5+ dodge with dodge reroll again, then 5+ to pick up the ball, 3+ to dodge again, then two 2+ GFIs!!!).

The Hellbringers then lined up again for what turned out to be the final drive of the game, and proceeded to pound the Jerks into the KO bin once more. The ball was delivered up the right hand side of the pitch with a small moving screen. With only a few minutes left in the game, the Jerks managed to knock the ball free! (3+ dodge, GFI and 1 dice Pow).

The Hellbringers then failed to recover the ball (snake-eyes on Sprint with Sure Feet Reroll), and the Jerks not only recovered the ball, but threw it downfield to the line of scrimmage and then proceeded to cover nearly every nearby player on the Hellbringers team except for the three that eventually won the game.

With the game on the line, rookie Bull Centaur Kzakorag Stormfist charged back towards the line of scrimmage sprinting (2 GFIs) till he smashed his shoulder onto the Jerk Wight with the ball, splatting him and knocking the ball free. Meanwhile, Hellbringers Hobbo Slurppa picked himself up from the astroturf and ran into the Jerks end zone, whilst emerging star Hobbo Laglop ran back, scooped up the ball near the line of scrimmage, ran back towards the endzone (failing his first GFI to bring the range from Long Bomb to Long Pass) and hurled the ball towards the end zone.

What an ugly pass it was spinning awkwardly in the air and drifting first one way then the other, but Slurppa managed to catch the ugly pass and steal the win for the Hellbringers!
-------------------------
What a close close match that was. Despite outnumbering my opponent by 11 to 8 for most of the game, and at one stage 11 to 5, I still almost drew that game, thanks mostly to a heap of one dice pows, and a couple of 2 dice I choose double pows. It was down to that lucky pass in the end that missed, scattered 3 squares back onto the target who then caught the missed pass (needing a 4+).

That is one of the closest wins I have ever had!
