#8 Mortis – Dead (RIP)
Some games u are meant to win, some to lose. This was definatley one of latter...
The Devils was on top for most of the game having possession for about 2/3s of the game forcing the Nightmares into difficult plays. Unfortunatley Nuffle decided that no undead were to make it in the cup and broken av on the elfes was a rare sight. And in the seventh turn of the first half the Devils scoring attempts were permanentley put on ice after no less then 2 blocks ending in double skulls then trying to put Chimera into scoring position.
Second half started of just as bad. In a rather desperate attempt to score the elfes went up the right side with an almost unprotected ballcariier. The Count saw it as an easy target since all he needed for the 2 dice block on him was a simple 2+ dodge in a tacklefree county. Ofcourse, Nuffle decided to award the attempt with snakeeyes and then Hydra tried to do the same thing in the following turn he awarded it with 2 failed 3+ rolls.. It all turned out to an easy score for the elfes and the Devils made a quick drive up their right crowdpushing the elfes as they went. Stalling some for a late turn 8 score I got sloppy in turn 7 and aborted the crowdpushing tactic in favour on one of the few pows i got during the game. This meant I had a rather bad cage and the elfes managed to dodge into it, take the ballcarrier down and recover the ball. Not to much of a trouble though since i could knock her down and all i needed for the equaliser was an easy 3+ pickup with a RR. Thats an 89% chance of success but Nuffle once again decided to give me the cold shoulder and gave the win to the elfes..
I made a single CAS during the game, in turn 16, and thats not for lack of trying, I threw a total of 7 fouls, 5 with my DP, with an avarage of 2,5 assist, and i hardley managed to get more then 1 KO and no CAS what so ever...
I played safe aswell during the second half and had 4 RR to 0 at the beginning of turn 16 and overtime would have been a walk in the park for me. But that little lapse in concentration in turn 15 coupled with cruel Nuffle destroyed me this game...

Fumbbl Cup IV first round

A fine report by Feid. In some points I can not simply agree. But that is probably due to the fact that each player percieves the "luck" part differently.
Absolutely right: It is amazing, I went away with no lasting injuries. Considering the extensive use of the DP. I can not say that armor was broken too seldom, but it resulted in stunns most of the times and a few KOs. The game started fine for me, with the three handicap rolls resulting in no player reduction on my side.If I remember it correctly these were Doom and Gloom (reducing me down to 2 rerolls first half), illegal drugs (giving the AG4 wight ST4) and 1 extra reroll for the Undeads (?). Also both nigglers showed up, giving me 11 players to beginn with.
We had to kick first, and decided to put much pressure on the Undeads early on. This resulted in side-changing of the ball carrier without finding a hole to run through. And in the end to a cage not completely formed. This chance was taken by the Dark Elves and the ST4 witch 1d blitzed the wight and got a pow (after reroll). The ball scattered good for us and we put 4 tackle zones on it. The wight rose, managed a 3+ dodge (after reroll) and blitzed one of the elves pushing the ball away. The scatter was both good (direction) and bad (out of tackle zones). So, the Count himself picked it up. We had our guard players there and again the witch took the blitz, getting 3 block rolls (frenzy, and having tackle), but only got push backs. Now, the ST4 Blitzer had a go, rolling skulls. The Count went forward into a cage. Maybe the Undeads hesitated too long here, maybe not wanting the Count to score, but since most of my players were in their side of the field, they could have started running at tis point. With no rerolls left, Hallistra leaped into that cage and stripped the ball from the Count, which could not be picked up by the elves. Turn 8, last chance for TD, Blitz to one of the 5 Undeads around the ball resulted in a scattering ball, that was not freed, but caught by the Count.

--sidenote: A remarkable first game for the Lino Naarna: 2 failed easy dodges caused turn overs in turn 1 and 2. In turn 3 she succeeded, only to be knocked out shortly after that and never to return to the game.--

Second half, due to KOed players we had to start our offence with 9 players. We started a fake offense at the downside of the field using the ST4 witch, a guard player and my ST4 lino. This succeeded in binding the 73 SPPs mummy, the strong wight and others. Only the Count as a strong player was at the top, so I decided to pass the ball to my ST4 Blitzer and let him run.
Right, the Count could blitz him and failed due to snake-eyes. But that was only possible because my Blitzer needed a reroll to catch the ball and therefor I dared not to gfi. Had I the 2 extra sqares the Blitzer would have been in reach only of a single ST3 ghoul. True, Nuffle was on my side at the crucial times, but not so often to make it an easy and relaxed game...
The one ghoul reached my blitzer one turn later. I blitzed him, hoping for a pow(/push back) to stall another turn, but that was denied and I scored.
5 turns left for the Undeads to score their TD. Again, 9 players for me. And get the ref for both teams. The ball was kicked out of bounds and given to Hydra. The Undeads advanced at the lower side of the field. That was where the advance came to a halt, where over 10 players came together to block back and forth. One might call it stalling or the lack of opportunities, the wight was taking part in the feast, not searching for a way out for some turns. After all, it was again my ST4 witch who got a go on the ballcarrier and brought him down.
Right, all the Undeads needed was a simple pick up to score the equalizer.
They had won the game in OT most certainly. We were stripped of all rerolls, had one BH, 3 KOed players, thus being 7 players to field plus some KOed returning maybe. The Undeads still had 11 (and more) to field and 3 or 4 rerolls left.

So, I do thank Nuffle for protecting my players and deciding the match at the most crucial rolls.
It was certainly also my more experienced player that won the game. 3 ST4 players and as many guards, nearly all of them Blodgers helped a lot in the fights.

Thanks Fejd for the game, that kept me on edge and incredible tense during the whole time.
