Welcome to FUMBBL!
To help get you started here's a few helpful links to answer some of the more obvious questions.
For more advanced questions you can look through the
HELP section which has numerous guides, tips and instructions designed to help you make the most of the site. You can find the link to the help section just below the FUMBBL logo in the middle towards the top of the screen.
You can also ask questions on the forums. Take a moment or two to search and see if the same question has been asked and answered there in the past using the search function.
Don't be disheartened by early crappy win/draw/loss records, we've all been there. My starting record was spectacularly awful. You will get better, either from experience or by spectating other coaches and picking up tips that way.

Where should you start playing?
~
145 Club is a league designed specifically for newer coaches to get a few games under their belts with other new coaches. Created by the amazing
Koadah over ten years ago it is now managed by
Throweck, and 3 other coaches. It is a great place to start.

There are three main divisions on FUMBBL.
Ranked,
Blackbox and
League. There is also
Stunty Leeg which is not official, and is unique to FUMBBL.
~
Ranked allows you to offer your team up for games and then accept or decline offered match ups via
Gamefinder.
~
Blackbox puts you in a draw every 15 minutes, and your team is automatically matched up against another team with similar TV (Team Value).
~
League allows you to join custom leagues (or even start one) with their own specific rules and tournaments.
~
Stunty Leeg is all about crazyness. It is extremely rare to see teams finish a match without players in the injury boxes, so if mayhem is your thing you'll love this!

Here's a quote from akaRenton, a coach with over 1000 matches played on FUMBBL.
When I first joined, many years back I was clueless. I'd played some tabletop, but was oblivious to anything even approaching tactical choices. As I learnt the rules and the basics of attack and defense my win rate improved. I became all about the win. I'd even try and cherrypick opponents to ensure that I would get that win. Unsuprisingly I didn't get much from the site doing this, the wins were hollow and I grew bored quickly. I took a break from FUMBBL. When I came back I started playing for fun over the win. I made a halfling team and found that with some luck and a few decent skills they can even have a decent win rate. But then came my great love. On a whim I made an all zombie undead team - the Dirty Cranberries, and I fell in love with playing them. They're incredibly dumb, slow and can't handle a ball - but boy are they durable! I'm well passed 350 games with them and never get bored, regardless of the result. I've even had four legend players on the team, including an all time FUMBBL great Howie Makepeace.
Find the way of playing on FUMBBL that works for you, for me that was novelty teams but it could be tournaments, leagues, coach rating etc. There's so many ways of playing here and with the range of divisions it's almost impossible not to find the way that makes it most fun for you.
I've also found getting involved in helping the site has made it ultimately much more rewarding to be here. Amongst other things, I revived the FUMBBL records book The Recordopedia Spluttanica - CRP Edition which is proving to be loads of fun.
