Originally from Reikland, Nelson planned to try out for Reikland college’s open star quarterback position, despite his lack of pitch experience. However, unrelated to any pirate activity, he accidentally passed out on an Araby-bound vessel and was in Lashiek when he awoke. Luckily, Captain Jadaph was there to help him make the best of the situation, finding him quite talented and a worthwhile acquisition for the Parrots.

Despite doubts cast on his ability to fit in with his new teammates, Nelson has taken on the role of the team's tactician of sorts, calling plays from the backfield and ensuring everyone is on the same wavelength
