After his parents survived Auschwitz, Blitzer and his family immigrated to the United States under the provisions of the 1948 Displaced Persons Act. He was raised in Buffalo, New York, and graduated from Kenmore West Senior High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts in history from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1970.

He was later KILLED AND BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE AFTER BEING KICKED IN THE FACE BY AN ELF on 08/11/2023. The offending elf played for Miami College of GarcCoin.
