The book is a secret weapon of Nightshade, the god of being sneaky and evil and stuff.
Nightshade has long wanted to show his strength on the pitch and by leading Giorgio to the book his plot is beginning to unravel.
The book has secret powers of unheard of proportions. After reading the first passage Giorgio was turned from a moderately evil old man to a vicious blood sucking Vampire. What the next passages could contain only the future will tell.
The first passage granted Giorgio even more unnatural agility as his body turned even closer to the shadowy essence of Nightshade.
The second passage allowed Giorgio to anticipate attacks and block them with spite.
