Rasmus Würtz is with his aggressivity, enormous strength and his ability to run, run and run an ideal player in central midfield. Apart from breaking up the opponents play, Rasmus and his fine football skills is also a vital part in FCK’s attacking play.
Rasmus began playing football in Skive, the town where he was born, and it was soon clear to everyone around him, that here was a boy with talent. At age 17 he was a regular for Skive in the Danish 1. division, and only one year later he signed at contract with F.C. Copenhagen’s league rivals Aalborg. 32 appearances in 33 matches in his first season proved that he was one of the most promising young players in Denmark.
Rasmus has played for various national youth teams, and many will remember him for his excellent play at the U21 Championship in 2001 in Portugal, where Rasmus captained the Danish team. He got his debut for the Danish A-national team in 2005 at the age of only 21.
After 5 years in Aalborg everyone expected Rasmus Würtz to sign a contract with a foreign club, but he decided to stay in Denmark, and in the summer of 2007 he signed a contract with the Danish champions F.C. Copenhagen.
