Matron Mother S'sathay was not pleased. And when the Matron Mother was not pleased, the entire house should be very, very careful. Matron S'sathay had heard, from a reliable source, that Lloth, the mighty Spider Queen herself, had grown angry with her and her house. And to aggravate Lloth is to invite doom to one's existence. Something had to be done to please Lloth... very soon...

The very same source that informed Matron about Lloth's disfavour, suggested that she should send a team to play Blood Bowl. No other house from their city of T'ryil had done that so far and that would be a perfect way to please Lloth. Dominance over other races on the field of glory!

At once Matron S'sathay summoned eleven dark figures in her chambers. They were her lovers, all capable of delivering such an intense pleasure that they have been saved from the usual fate of Matron's lovers - sacrifice to Lloth right after the moment of pleasure. Or sometimes even during that moment...

- "Come to me, my brave warriors!" Matron said loudly, her eyes sparkling from desire. "I have a mission for you! A mission that gives you a chance to serve me even better than you have served me before. But first you have to prove yourself once more in a more... intimate way. Come - all of you!"

After the whole day of intense.. hmm... training... the eleven drow warriors were teleported to the surface, to take part in Blood Bowl league. Long live Lloth!

*UPDATE AFTER THE FIRST TOURNAMENT*

After the first tournament the team was summoned to Matron's private chambers in T'ryil. The Matron sat in her throne made of adamantite and watched in total silence as the team gathered in front of her and kneeled. Silence continued and was beginning to get to players' nerves but then Matron spoke. Her voice was sharp as the whip she carried in her belt:
- "You dare to step before me without the tournament throphy! Explain!"
The players knew it would be risky to speak for Matron was well known for her whims. She needed no special reason to torture or even kill. But not to speak up was also a possibility that did not sound like a good idea.
As one Streea Og'elend and Su'gath D'rivo spoke. Both had done very well during the tounament and felt that it was their job to speak for the team. Both players were a bit surprised when they heard the other start to speak too. Finally Su'gath took the place of a captain.
- "Mighty Matron. We offer you no excuses. We are ashamed to inform you that we became second in the tournament. Foul necromantic team won. The first two games we failed you, oh mighty Matron. They were both draws and even when we won the last three games, it was not enough to beat the necromantic team's final score. If there would have been a final game between us, surely - "
- "SILENCE!" Matron's voice cut Su'gath's. Su'gath knew this was the critical moment. Would Matron take him to the sacrificial chambers?
- "Of course I am aware of your performance. I watched every game from my Pool of Visions. Tell me this, Su'gath: Would you lead this team again in future tournaments if chance comes? Is this team worthy?"
- "Yes, Matron. I would lead this team if you see us worthy enough. Now our eyes are better accustomed to the unnatural light in which these tournaments are played. We would do better next time."
Moments passed as Matron seemed to think. Every player knew their fate was in Matron's hands. And everyone had seen those very hands deliver cruel punishments, sometimes for no apparent reason.
- "Very well. You have done well enough and Lloth Herself is pleased. Our house is safe from Her wrath. You get your second chance. Now I grow tired of talking. Begone, you!"
Players rose to their feet and bowed deeply, hardly believing they were still alive. Quickly they started to make their way out of Matron's chambers as her voice cut in.
- "Su'gath! Not with them. Your bravery has earned you a pleasureable night with me. Consider this as a reward for your prowess. Come!"

* UPDATE AFTER THE SECOND TOURNAMENT *

An oval shaped portal stood before the team, on a hidden place miles from the nearest city. It's colour was darkest of blue. If the team was to step through it, it was to teleport them to the dark elven city of T'ryil, to meet the Matron S'sathay. No-one spoke. Every one knew their dire situation. They hadn't won the second tournament either even though Su'gath D'rivo had sworn it to Matron. Sugath himself wouldn't have been very surprised if the rest of the team would have dragged him with them to meet the Matron's wrath. The others would have a slight chance to live before Matron but for Su'gath that was no longer an option. There was no way in abyss he would step through. He had made his mind. He would take his chances up here, on the surface of the world.

Surprisingly Streea Og'elend spoke.
- "I sense a great confusion amongst our team. And I dare to guess the reason for it. We all know the fate that is going to meet us in T'ryil. No-one will be spared from the Matrons wrath, this we can be sure of. I, personally, will stay here, on the surface, and try to survive to the best I can. If most of you decide to do the same, we can still play Blood Bowl as a team."
A moment later the whole team was standing behind Streea. The only one that hadn't moved was Su'gath. He stood before the portal and watched the others. This was even better that he had anticipated. With a wide grin on his face he offered his hand to Streea.
- "Count me in."
The portal was left there alone. After the team had disappeared behind a hill, it's colour started to change. From blue to red, from red to purple, darker, darker. Until it was the darkest black. An eerie sound emanated from deep inside the portal. With a piercing scream of limitless rage the portal suddenly disappeared. A sickening smell was left where the portal had stood.

* UPDATE *

Living as rogue dark elves was not very glamorous. Without the generous support from Matron Mother and her Spider Goddess Lloth, the team had to cope by themselves. Life was hard compared to status as the Matron's champions in T'ryil. But at the same time the members of the team felt strange peace and calm living on the surface. Sure there was plenty of danger but compared to life in T'ryil that was relaxation. In T'ryil assasinations and pure murder was as common as buying a pint of ale on the surface world.
After some weeks of wandering the team found what they were looking for. An ad about a Blood Bowl league taking place. It was called Smash'em 06. Now they had found the way to earn a decent living. And what could be better than earn one's living by doing what one does best - playing Blood Bowl.

* UPDATE *

The tournament hadn't ended yet. After defeating the human team Carnivale Carnivores, a meeting was held. A meeting where the five remaining original members of the team gathered to discuss important matters. Before today's game there had been six original members but this time the meeting was about one of the original six, Velg'larn Elg'caress, a player who had been permanently injured in today's game. As usual, after such injury, a meeting was held and there it was decided whether or not the player was "needed" any more.

The five were unusually quiet. They all knew they were going to discuss about the fate of their fellow dark elf who had been with them from the very beginning. In their place of birth, dark elven city of T'ryil, his life would have been worthless. But here, on the surface, a bond between the members of the team was different, somehow stronger. Decicion was quick.

Velg'larn Elg'caress lay on his bed, his left foot was heavily bandaged. He just lay there and waited. He knew what was going to happen. He himself had been in many meetings and knew there was one going on at that very minute. And he knew this time his fate was at stake. He stared at the door and waited.
No sound alarmed him but he knew that there were persons behind his door. It was no wonder he hadn't heard anything, dark elves were masters of stealth. He drew a sharp breath, preparing himself to the things to come.
Five figures emerged through the door without knocking. The same figures Velg'larn had anticipated. They closed the door.
- "Let's get it over with.", Velg'larn said. "Just say the word. But let me do it myself" he continued as he drew a sharp blade behind his pillow, placing it on his throat.
- "Put that down, Velg'larn", Sugath D'rivo spoke. " We decided to nominate you as a coach. You have been such a great defender that we decided we need a coach to train us in that. You are going to be a full time assistant coach with Hub'bok and Rignueth.
- "Lucky bastard" Streea Og'elend said, his solemn face cracking into a wide grin. "You just sit on a bench and entertain cheerleaders while we are on the field getting our asses kicked. For that I almost voted for killing you."
After a while the five left. Velg'larn was left there, alive. He had been luckier that some. He would live to see another day.
