Blackspine Barbarians
Retired [A] Dark Elf

The Blackspine Barbarians hail, naturally, from the Blackspines Mountains of Naggaroth. Life in the mountains is tough, even by the standards of the Dark Elves, as the land is rugged and inhospitable, and contact with the more civilised (again, by the standards of Dark Elves) cities is infrequent. Denizens of Naggarond or Ghrond tend to look down on the mountain-dwellers as being backward, uncouth (by the standards, etc...), and even a little touched in the head (by the... oh you know). Rumours of inbreeding and congenital stupidity are common.

But the Blackspiners are a hardy folk, and tend to shrug off such accusations from their city-dwelling cousins as the paranoia of weaklings too used to a comfortable life safe behind the fortified walls of the city-states. Some take the rivalry very seriously indeed, and some try to do something about it. One such Blackspines dweller, Malith Karr, decided that the best way to rub the snotty city-dwellers' noses in it was to embarrass them on the Blood Bowl pitch, and put a sizable chunk of his slave trading cash into funding a local team.

Recruiting some of the toughest youngsters from the mountain towns and villages, Karr put together the Barbarians, taking the name from the popular conception of the mountain-dwellers. A relatively young and inexperienced side, the Blackspine Barbarians are eager to prove themselves to their urban cousins.
