Benetton Treviso
Retired [X2] Undead

For a team that was not even a first-division regular until 16 years ago, Benetton Treviso has quickly built a strong foundation for winning at the highest levels in Europe. Over the last decade the team has taken a place among the continent's elite squads and rooted itself at the top of the prestigious Italian League. From its founding in 1954 through the arrival of the Benetton family as owners in 1982, the club from Treviso was more concerned with making it to the first division than shining on a national or international scale. For the next decade, Benetton worked its way up into the mid-level domestically and dabbled in European tournaments. Those ambitions started soaring, however, in the 1990s, with the arrival of stars from both the NBA and European title-winners. The initial payoff came in 1992 with the Italian League title, a first for Treviso, but there was plenty more to come. The next season, 1993, saw a first-ever Euroleague Final Four appearance and began a string of three consecutive Italian Cup crowns. The last of those coincided, in 1995, with the club's first European success, a Korac Cup title. Benetton added its second domestic title in 1997, another Final Four appearance in 1998, a Saporta Cup in 1999 and a new Italian Cup in 2000. Benetton capped off its 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons by winning the Italian League. The 2002-03 title capped off a dominating performance from the beginning to the end of the regular season and marked the fourth title in twelve years. This achievement, combined with two consecutive Final Four appearances, including a tough loss in the final game in 2003, has earned Benetton a position among the continent's top basketball clubs. The team could not repeat its success last season, but still managed to clinch the Italian Cup title, make it to the Italian League semifinals and be one game short of returning to the Final Four, in a season most of the European teams would want for themselves. The club aims to remain among the top European powers of the last decade, as this superb basketball organization always seems to have everything under control.
