From Ferries To Fairies: Buckleberry's Bloodbowl Tradition

The current Buckleberry Faeries squad is the result of the mergings of two of the hamlet of Buckleberry's greatests traditions; bloodbowl and halfling tossing. Buckleberry Has always maintained a strong, if not always succesfull, Bloodbowl tradition. The Ferries, named after the local steam ships, have a long storied history in the local division as the team to beat among other halfling squads. Unfortunatly when matched up against non halfling races they found it hard to compete and were eventually forced to hang up their playing aprons due to a high casualty rate. If it were not for Remmy Licken this would be the end of the legacy of The Buckleberry Bloodbowl club.

Head Chef, owner and manager of Buckleberry's largest inn, the Dew Drop Inn, Licken lived and breathed the Ferries. Originally a member of their practice squad Licken was crushed to see the teams demise. For several years after the retirement Licken looked into bringing outside talent from as far as Eggmans Knob to play for a new squad under his management. His recruitment netted him only around a dozen halflings all brave and strong in their own right but as Licken saw it, unable to stand up to the raw power of the other races.

Licken nearly giving up his quest was suprised to discover the answer to his prayers in his own pub. The Dew-Drop was the local meeting place for Buckleberrys annual "Halfling Hurley Burley" a competion held by the local chamber of commerce to promote spending among the larger races. Each year Several dozen contestants would compete in a punt, pass and kick competion using inmates from the local jail. When the final halfling was kicked the top competitors were Larrsalyspew a local bridge troll winning the gold, Rhasklort minotaur farmer winning the siver and Wesson a local treeman taking the bronze.

Licken decided that while Wesson was not the winner of the day he was in fact the least likely of the winners to see a halfling team as a buffet and offered him a contract within the team. Wesson, not being able to resist making a career of what he loved, eagerly accepted and recomended Licken to his brother Smith a thrower of equal skill but unable to compete in the hurley burley due to a sprained branch. Also with the brothers came their practice halfing Bentley "Hollow Point" Bullette. Finally with a team he felt could compete in the larger world Licken sent out for news uniforms and release several press releases to the local media informing the masses of the new and vastly improved Ferries.

In what Licken hopes is not a taste of things to come in the teams first press conference where the tailors debuted the new uniforms it would seem that there was a lapse in communication and the Ferries recieved not the green and steel colored uniforms of old but a bright yellow and orange outfit with small wings attached to the back that was suppose to be sent to Eggmans Knob's local school for their spring play. Licken playing off any goof reportedly has renamed the team the Buckleberry Fairies and is rolling with it.
