The Roughnecks took part in the Wooden Spoon KO Cup. They won the first game, against badgertheking's Ancients of Ventnor, and were thus eliminated from the tourney.

22 April 2010
The Roughnecks were promoted all the way up to the second division, after having played only four matches in the League! While the team is celebrating this great honour, the players confident in their ability to win the entire league, the coach is more worried that they'll just get bashed to bits by a bunch of mummies and fall right down again.

June 2010
The above fears became true and the team won zero games in that season. They're once again entered into the Wooden Spoon tournament.

1 July 2010
The team played their first match in 'the Spoon'. The <a href=http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3033651>result</a> was incredible, with a narrow 4-3 victory against Grin's Northwood Avengers (who later went on to win the whole Spoon), who had a 56 TS advantage over the Roughnecks. The match swayed back and forth, but eventually Nuffle's repeated dicing of the elves proved too much for them, and the goblins, who I had assumed would lose, could stall through OT and score the final td in OT t8. TTM worked really well, and the trolls managed to bash quite a lot. Two new players bought, FF went up, and the team is looking ok for next season. Let's hope they don't get the Khemri division this time!

August 2010
The team got demoted, fortunately, to division three, the lowest division under the new system. Hopefully they'll be able to handle the opposition there.

Season 6 (autumn 2010)
The first match of season 6 was a glorious tie against Wotfudboy's Newchurch of the Damned. I was set to lose the game early after failing to score on my own first drive and then losing two players early on. The cas kept coming, but they were only BH. I miraculously pulled off two TTM's that secured the tie in T15. This was a tie that certainly felt like a win! The second game was a win 1-0 against BiggieB's Spamkings. Despite all their "penis pills!!!" the elves were too few, too unskilled and too lacking in rerolls to stop the goblins. Nobbla played a disappointingly small role. The third game, against Phil78's Godshill Lament, was a bit of a gamble, as I decided not to buy any stars, but instead hope that sheer numbers would win the day, and that I would then be able to buy a much wanted fourth reroll. It was a good game that swayed back and forth, but in the end, the numerous claws on the chaos team proved too effective in decimating the Roughnecks. Despite their small number (only seven players) Godshill almost managed to clean the pitch. This was the last game of the season that looked winnable, so the Roughnecks will most likely stay in Division Three. Which is probably just as well... The fourth game was against Piper's Blackwater Bourgeouisie, which became a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. Rain at halftime gave the elves huge problems and the goblins were close to scoring the winning td on several occasions. Alas, it wasn't to be, and the elves eventually won 2-1. At least I got no perms this time. The last game v Northwood Avengers saw the team completely bashed out, despite starting extremely well with one cas by each troll in the first turn. After the game both trolls skilled, and one goblin, Rob Cobbleblob got +1ST and then -ag on an ageing on his first skill! The team finished in 5th place and will stay in Division Three.

The Wooden Spoon (Oct/Nov 2010)
The Roughnecks lost more matches than usual for a while and ended up in the final of the Wooden Spoon! There, with the help of Nobbla and Fungus, they managed to avoid having to pick up the prize, and won 3-1 against SquigKey's Wellow Wats. Thoughts of taking the team out of the WIBBL crossed my mind during these last few games. However, the goblins are skilling up nicely and I will give them another season.

Season 7 (Jan-March 2011)
The Roughnecks once again played in the 3rd division and finished in 4th place (out of 6) at 5 points. The last two games were close and wins were definitely possible, which in that case would have meant the team would have finished in 2nd or 3rd place, which would have been cool. Still, the team isn't really ready for promotion (I wonder if they will ever be!). Still, I'm quite pleased with the season, finishing on 1 win, 2 ties and 2 losses. The team played fairly well, and any tie always counts as a win for gobbos :P

The team then went on to pick up the spoon, which I hadn't expected to be honest. Two of the matches were definitely possible to win, but alas. It was mainly all the trolls' fault. The team will now retire from the WIBBL. I'm considering entering a real team for the next season. It would be fun to play WIBBL a bit more seriously. The Roughnecks will stay as a League team and may take part in future tournies.
