Dead Morticians
Retired [L] Shambling Undead

A team founded by some morticians that had been brought back to "unlife", the Dead Morticians have continued their founders' tradition by teaching their arts to their players. Every player has the skills of a professional mortician, with many of them specializing in either bringing people to "unlife"... or making sure they stay dead. Joining the Northern Wastes League, they hope to bring their skills to perfection against the talented teams in the league.

First participating in season 22 of the NWL, the Dead Morticians had a rough time in the Brass Balls division, suffering massive casualties throughout the season. Despite the damage, the Morticians held together long enough to give a decent accounting of themselves, going 3/2/2 with one of the victories by forfeit, and one game not counted as it was a "filler".

Season 23 of the NWL was even worse for the Morticians. Going 1/1/3 with two unplayed games (one team vanished and there was a string of comedic mix-ups where the teams kept showing up in the wrong stadiums, at the wrong times, or on the wrong days) they barely managed to stay out of last place in the Western Conference. Again, the team suffered immense amounts of damage, beleaguered by an average of 4.5 casualties per game and having the worst casualty differential that season in the NWL, a staggering -18.

Success finally found the Dead Morticians in season 24, despite a rocky start. Opening with a win before being battered in two consecutive losses, they managed to put together a string of five consecutive victories before barely squeaking by with a tie in the final game of the season, ending 6/1/2. The tie left the Morticians a single point ahead of the third place team, just enough to promote them to the premier division. The key factor this season seemed to be moderating the casualty ratio. Finally achieving a positive ratio, despite having had to replace two mummies and a wight this season, the Morticians hope to continue this practice as they venture into premier.

Once again, the Dead Morticians had a rough start in season 25 in the premier division. Ending the first half of the season with a 1/0/4 record (only avoiding the basement due to a penalty applied against the Northern Waste Hydras), they finally managed to turn things around (somewhat) in the second half of the season. Ending 2/3/4 for the season and just short of breaking even in casualties, the Morticians barely managed to earn fifth place, which just might be a strong enough finish to remain in premier, as discussions are underway to possibly shrink premier.

When Premier Division in season 26 began, the Morticians had yet another slow start. They spent the first half of the season in next to last place due to their inability to finish off their opponents. Running 0-3-1, and barely staving off defeat or failing to hold (or recapture) victory, left the team both battered and despondent. Things finally turned around with a two game winning streak (with help in the form of numerous ties by other teams along with key losses.) This managed to bring the Morticians out of 7th place and barely up into 4th, once again keeping the team in the Premier Division.
