Claim to fame (games 1-38)
Walpurgis started out strong, laying a claim to fame when they proceeded to the final of their first tournament to enter, a Ranked Minor, defeating some notable opponents in the process, with Willow
emerging as the team's first Super Star. They lost the final, but reached another one in the following Warpstone Open IX qualifier, which again they lost to none less than Erdsa Longrit
. By that time, their name would be recognized by the experts and they would be found in the lists of Milford's pickers' challenges. They played some more tourneys, and entered the Fumbbl Cup XIII, where they defeated Spirit Breaker
in a memborable game
Downfall (games 39-41)
They lost Willow in that Fumbbl Cup, and the Halliwell sisters refused to play for the team altogether after some fateful events
following the team's 41st match. At that point, there were only six players left in Walpurgis, none of them showing much promise. But they were bound for eight matches still, and they had not won anything yet. So, they carried on.
Rebuild (games 42-56)
For some time it looked like the team was done for. They didn't see any action and the coach couldn't stand to look at them. But they had made a vow and so finally, painfully, they got going again. Shamelessly, they would advertise their sorry state and look for easy matches, and they'd eventually get them. There were some setbacks but overall things were going reasonably well. And when the Borak donation drive
came along, the coach knew here was his chance to redeem his mistakes of the past. And so the Halliwell sisters rejoined the team
. Walpurgis had a squad of 13 again, with two Stars and two more approaching Star. They were back in town, ready for action.
Return to the scene (games 57 to 68)
They made their first tourney appearance in almost a year in the XFL IX Wood Elf
. They were determined to become the coach's first team to reach 100 matches, but they wanted a trophy to their names before they get there!
Finally rewarded (games 69 to 72)
Walpurgis' struggle finally ended in the FUMBBL Minors 1900TW IV-1
. That trophy just had their name on it from the start and nothing could stop them. Not being vastly outnumbered in game 1. Not Tricktickler in game 2. Not double skulls and snake eyes in game 3. Not Jokaero in game 4. They had a fine team in that Minor, and Nuffle was on their side.
…and the dance goes on (games 73 to present)
Next goal is 100 games, and getting Phoebe
to Legend in the process. Made a notable run in the Warpstone Open XII, winning the "Qualifier of Death" with an incredible victory
over Uusiverikulho and reaching the quarter finals.
