Piggy is as outrageous and bossy as Kermit is calm and collected. If you tease her she's the baby most likely to chase you around the room or belt you one. Piggy loves everything and anything to do with romance, glamour and Hollywood. Her greatest dream is to grow up to be a rich and famous movie star with Kermit (whom she has a huge crush on)by her side ( Kermit doesn't share this sentiment quite as much as Piggy does). Kermit thinks of Piggy as a friend, but not a girlfriend (or would that be girlpig ?).

Watches over the kids day and night. We never got to see Nanny's face. All we ever saw was her skirt, the bottom of her sweater and her signature green and white striped socks. For emphasis she'd wave her hand occasionally. Nanny is very sweet and caring. She was rarely stern; her discipline leaned more towards a gentle reprimand, explaining to the wrong do-er why they were in trouble and why it was wrong. Even then it was forgive and forget, with a pile of cookies waiting for everyone.

Kermit is the closest thing the Babies have to a "leader". Whenever the kids try something he's right there in the middle of it helping to move things along. Kermit, however, is never bossy or pushy and on occasion is actually bashful. The other kids, especially Fozzie, look up to Kermit.

No one is quite sure what Gonzo is exactly but whatever species he may be one thing is for sure - he's weird and proud of it! Gonzo is always ready to do his own thing - in the weirdest and most original way possible. He has a huge crush on Piggy, although she thinks he's just too weird (along with the fact she has her own crush on Kermit). He and Animal hang out a lot together, pretending their exploring some strange far off planet or strange new dimension.

Tomboy extrodinaire. Her ultimate goal is to win a gold metal at the Olympics and she's training early. Full of energy, Skeeter is constantly on the move, whether it be by bouncing on her trampoline, playing ball, or endlessly teasing her brother Scooter.

Is the complete opposite of his sister. Whereas Skeeter is the ultimate extrovert Scooter is perfectly content to curl up in the corner with his computer or a good book all day. Scooter is the computer nerd of the Muppet Babies, right down to his glasses (can't see a thing without them) and his general clumsiness around anything that doesn't have batteries. He's pretty tolerant of his sister's teasing but even Scooter can be pushed too far.

Rowlf is one cool cat - er, I mean dog. Rowlf is really into his music and being cool man but he never forgets his friends and is always ready to lend a hand (or paw, as the case would be).

The youngest of the babies, Animal is a bouncing ball of energy. All he ever wants to do is play, play and play some more (and make as much of a mess as possible while doing it). His chaotic energy is a perfect match to his best bud Gonzo's crazy weirdness. Although he can be pretty destructive at times, Animal has a kind heart and never means to wreck things on purpose. And even though he's not old enough to walk yet, sometimes it seems like Animal knows more about what's going on than the older kids do!

Bunsen and Beaker are the kids next door. They come over to visit every now and then. Beaker is really shy but Bunsen is always eager to show off his latest invention. These inventions though usually end up getting him and the rest of the kids in trouble.

a late comer to the Muppet Baby scene, Bean began as a 'real' Muppet on the Muppet segments of the Jim Henson Hour, which aired in the late 80's, just prior to Henson's death. He was quickly brought over to the Muppet Baby universe as a neighbourhood kid who comes over to play every once in a while. He's slightly younger than the other babies (except for Animal). He is slightly obsessed with his own cuteness and has a tendency to speak directly to the audience.

Kermit's nephew, like Bunsen and Beaker, is one of the original guest stars. He appears as an adorable tadpole in a fishbowl and speaks only in squeaks and gurgles. He gets along very well with Animal (probably because they understand each other). The other babies have to keep a close eye on Robin because he likes to leave his fishbowl, and then it is hard for them to find him.

the two old hecklers from the balcony of The Muppet Show became frequent guests on the Muppet Babies in the shows final seasons. Unlike all the other adults who visited the Nursery you could see Statler and Waldorf's faces. They got right down and played right next to the babies, instead of just checking in on them as Nanny did.
